I recently visited Smack Pizza Co. for a cozy home date with my girlfriend, and it was an experience we'll never forget. We decided to grab some pizza and wine, and Smack Pizza was our top choice. From the moment we placed our order, we were met with friendly and efficient service. The staff was incredibly warm, and our takeaway order was ready in just 15 minutes—perfect timing!

We ordered a Tikka Chicken pizza, but upon arriving home, we discovered that we had received a Tikka Paneer pizza instead. I called the restaurant, and before I could even mention the mix-up, Brandon, a staff member, had already realized the error and was quick to rectify it. Brandon was an absolute star! He insisted on delivering the correct pizza directly to our home without asking for the mistaken order back.

To our delight, the correct Tikka Chicken pizza arrived at our door within 20 minutes, and as a gesture of goodwill, they even included two delicious dessert brownies! This level of customer service was beyond impressive—it turned our simple home date into an unforgettable experience.

The pizza itself was nothing short of amazing. The flavors were spot on, and the quality was exceptional. Thanks to Smack Pizza Co., our evening was filled with great food, wonderful service, and a memorable experience that we'll cherish. You’ve definitely earned some extra brownie points (pun intended), and we can't wait to come back for more!

I love the food at Smack, best pizza and pasta in jhb, and the best part is that the original management allowed my little, well behaved, doggie to dine with us. It's the only reason I've recommended the restaurant to friends and family. however, on my recent visit, I was appalled at their manager, Steven. The first occasion he came into the restaurant while we were already eating and gave us uncomfortable looks and i could see him complaining to his staff about us. Since I've never seen him before, I assumed he had some issue about our dog sitting with us. Anyway, besides making us uncomfortable, he did not approach us, so we just left. The second occasion, again, he was not in the restaurant when we arrived.. we sat at our usual spot ordered our food, and just before our food was ready he entered the restaurant, gave us the same uncomfortable look, spoke to the waitress and went into the back. The waitress then came to us, saying that they do not allow dogs inside. We were completely shocked. I explained to her that we come here all the time, we were given permission by the management in the very beginning, there was no customers in the restaurant and why all of a sudden there is an issue? I asked her to call the Manager, because I knew it was him. He didn't even have the courtesy or guts to come speak to us. He has no managerial skills or people skills, instead goes and have a meeting with his staff in front of us, making us feel like targets with all his staff looking at us, then walks away to the back office. There's something new on the menu on every visit, which I appreciate deeply. There's a pride and level of quality care that can be tasted in the food. The staff are super friendly, honest and always in point.

Recently tried their new "Truffle Pizza" & have easily given it a 10/10. The well balanced flavors of smokey earthiness, with the fresh rocket and shaved grana padano, all for just R155 will open your mind, taste buds and eyes to how you see food.

Go try it, you'll never get disappointed and if you're lucky you might meet the owner who is bubbly, passionate about his work and always on trend.

Well worth the money, time and travel.

EDITED: 04 FEB 2025 Still the best place to grab a good size pizza that 2 people can easily enjoy if you're on a budget. Their pizza fold overs is the best you'll ever have. Please don't try this anywhere else, you will be disappointed and given a version of the real thing. Their best pizza for me is the Johnny Apple pie. Life is not the same after this...
