This is one of the best locations for a seafood restaurant and that might be the only reason I am scoring the "atmosphere" a 5. The potential of this place is clearly mismanaged. I have seen waiters cleaning the balcony and the steps one bar at a time right next to your table with a serviette from the table next to her and as she cleans she places the dirty serviettes back on the very same 10 seater table. When she's done she wipes down the table with the very same serviettes (now blackened with dust and filth) that she just used to wipe down the balcony and she leaves. This is unhygienic bad management.
As a trained chef I know that the most important part of a meal is that people walk away happy with what they ate. The taste of a good meal still lingers in your mouth when you reach home and you can't wait to go back to where you found this prefound meal. I am in awe as to why a place that can potentially be the best seafood restaurant in the area serve the seafood that they do. Boxed, pre battered fish and onion rings, some kind of thickened soup mix as a lemon butter sauce (with the consistency of a overcooked bechamel sauce) not even to mention the misleading menu. "Spicy rice" instead of chips but nothing spicy about it. Instead I received mushy overcooked white, plain rice. Nothing seems to be as it is described on the menu. No sambals with the dull curry? I am reading reviews from as far back as 2016 on Hello Peter with exactly the same issues still present. Bad food, bad service and inconsistency. Your waiter will always return to let you know "they don't have or serve something in this manner anymore". Why is it still on the menu?
In Mosselbay and surrounds there are many restaurants much more reasonably priced that put more effort into their service and food. Come on Delfinos! Start reading your reviews and lift your standards a little. I know your location will always bring in a buck but... Standards do...
Read moreFirstly we arrived at the restaurant, we took a seat outside. It was me, my daughter in a baby chair, my father and my mother.
The waiter came and took our order- Grapetizer, cuppachino with cream and coke zero/light.
The waiter "wrote" everything down on a piece of paper. When she repeated te order back no grapetizer is mentioned and we had to place the order again.
We then received the drinks without straws, we requested the straws and had to wait for again for straws, the waiter took so long that we asked another male waiter that was standing around just to assist us by getting the straws. Finally the straws came.
We placed the food order with the waiter. Outer Pool breakfast, medium eggs and white toast Bikini Breakfast, scrambled eggs and white toast. Ham and Cheese quiche with salad.
We received the food, what a disgrace.
Outer Pool breakfast had scrambled eggs, no fried mushrooms and onions and no tomato relish Bikini Breakfast had soft eggs with no tomato relish
By the time the waiter came to us and we explained that we are dissatisfied with the food, we were already over it. It was really an unpleasant meal. Manager came and said she will bring the missing items now, but it is too late now, we almost done eating.
We went to the front to pay as our waiter is no where to be seen to get the bill.
The outer pool breakfast is R135, on the bill we paid R94.00 - discount for the items not received.
The Bikini Breakfast is R85, and we paid R85 even though there was no tomato relish.
I was shocked to see we were charged R8.00 just for scramble eggs. First time in my life I see a restaurant asking a fee for scramble eggs.
I asked the manager what about the missing items on the Bikini Breakfast, no answer...
I asked about the R8.00 for the scramble eggs and the reply I got is a can refund you on the R8.00, but nothing about the missing...
Read moreOn the 23rd March, whilst lunching upstairs from Delfinos restaurant, my family and I were approached at the Kingfisher restaurant, by an extremely rude and obnoxious Johan, manager of Delfinos and a member of his staff compliment. He accused my son, without any evidence, of the transgression, with his staff member, who herself was doubtful of who or what she had experienced.
He insulted us with insinuations and accusations, and eventually when he realized that he had no leg to stand on, no eye witness, evidence or proof of any kind (bear in mind there's security cameras around) he proceeded to name calling, referring to us as "these people", and left the restaurant Kingfisher.
I approached him downstairs at his restaurant, asking him for clarity on his remarks and comments, and to understand why he had approached my family. It is here that he became verbally abusive tried to intimidate us, claiming to own the establishment and threatening us.
As it turned out, there was a water drip from a gutter, due to the rains, and a drop of water had fallen onto the waitress.
I demand that the owner contact me to explain why Johan couldn't or didn't approach Dave, the manager of Kingfisher, to address the situation. Is it common practice to walk into establishments in Mossel Bay and start dishing out accusations to kids, or is that behavior reserved for people of color only?
Dave, by his own admission, stated that my son was extremely well behaved.
Johan is not fit for any role where he engages anyone from the general public, and I am considering laying a formal charge at the local SAPS for the racial slurs and physical intimidation aimed at my extended family, my wife and I.
Despite sending the complaint to the email address provided, I'm yet to receive an acknowledgement of the email or the courtesy of a reply....
