We highly recommend this bar and restaurant located right on the edge of Blougat, a picturesque area in Mossel Bay known for it's crashing waves at high tide and tranquil swimming sessions during calmer tides Additionally, the world-famous zipline ends here, adding to it's appeal. We truly enjoyed the delicious platters and cocktails. A special mention goes to Lauren, the manager, who deserves a high praise. She is not only a gracious host but is also actively engaged with guests throughout their experience. Our waitress, Michelle, provided excellent service as well. Restaurant exceptionally clean. The cocktails were delightful, and the views from the outdoor deck are absolutely mesmerizing. Overall, this establishment offers a fantastic ambiance, great amenities, and a memorable dining experience.

Big Blue is arguably the restaurant with the best views in the Mosselbay Waterfront (Point) area. From the deck area you have views of the iconic tidal pools (Die Poort Tidal Pool), the Mosselbay Zipline, the Cape St Blaize lighthouse and of course the magnificent Indian Ocean. The restaurant is very relaxed with indoor and outdoor seating areas, and is decorated in a laid-back beach style - they even have swings at the bar for you to relaxed on. It is important to note, that even if you sit inside, you will still have a great view as they have big windows facing the ocean. We visited for lunch and it was very nice, but the highlight for me was the cocktails which added to the "beach vibe". The staff was also friendly and they followed the Covid regulations that were in place at the time.

Big blu restaurant had a seafood platter for one special (R175) which included your choice of free beverage. This restaurant is located on the shoreline with the small aquarium below and zip line across. We had a table next to the fireplace, which created a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The service was quick and friendly. The food portion was large and enjoyable. My calamari was a little bit chewy, but my wife's calamari was perfect. Will visit again when in the area.

Location is often a major factor when choosing a restaurant, and with this particular establishment nestled by the ocean, my anticipation was high. However, my visit to this restaurant left me feeling greatly disappointed. The combination of lackluster ambiance, slow service, and flavorless food tarnished what could have been an enjoyable dining experience.

Upon entering, the ambiance fell short of my expectations. I had imagined a vibrant and inviting atmosphere that would complement the stunning ocean view. Unfortunately, the reality was quite different. The decor was unremarkable and failed to capture the essence of its coastal surroundings. The overall ambiance lacked the charm and character that one would hope for in such a picturesque location.

Regrettably, the disappointing experience continued with the service. Throughout the evening, the staff seemed overwhelmed and unable to provide efficient service. The wait times were noticeably long, and it felt as if our requests were often overlooked or forgotten. This lack of attentiveness greatly diminished the overall dining experience.

One of the most crucial aspects of any restaurant is the quality and taste of the food. Unfortunately, the dishes served at this establishment failed to impress. The flavors were lackluster and uninspiring, leaving much to be desired. In particular, the Greek salad, which should have been a delightful blend of fresh ingredients, was a mere disappointment. It consisted of nothing more than a basic mix of lettuce and a few scant slices of tomato. The lack of attention to detail in the presentation and the lack of flavor left me unsatisfied and longing for more.

Considering my experience at this restaurant, I find it difficult to recommend it to others. The underwhelming ambiance, slow service, and tasteless food overshadowed its promising location by the ocean. I was left with a sense of dissatisfaction and no desire to return. For those seeking a memorable dining experience, I would suggest exploring other options that offer a more enjoyable ambiance, attentive service, and...

What a beautiful day it was yesterday with my wife's bday, cocktail and a nice beer, stage was set stunning view, we decided to stay for lunch, we took the Hake, Capper and chips with salad. i asked the waiter how is the portions as its R140 a plate and if its not big enough i would rather walk up to spur and would also have an amazing view, she replied portions are good. So i was convinced to stay. Then the food arrive, no option was given for grilled or fried on the fish thats the first, 1 & half piece of hake and 10 chips i actually counted them, the side salad or garnish on the plate is 2 small pieces of lettuce with half a carrot and one slice of cucumber. I was so shocked that i couldn't react to the plate that was just placed in front of me for R140 each. Food was great very tasty fish was soft etc, chips was fresh. but at a R140 with a prime spot like that it was a proper let down. total bill was R 400 and we tipped R50 for the waiter R 450 total. Look at your portions, you can merge your kiddies menu with your main menu and no one would pick up the difference.

Sad to say but this place will only see me for drinks, as the view and...

I posted the rating down below a week ago with a 1 star rating.... Todays experience was great quick service, great cocktails, chips were the best ever, kids loved the hot chocolate and the manager himself was cleaning tables and checking on us... WELL DONE GUYS!!! What a change around... 2 thumbs up!!

1st review: "I usually love this place, when i Mosselbay on holiday every December, we support them at least 4-5 times over a 2 week visit. I understand they are busy but today the waitress at the door was extremely rude, she told me they are full, which was obvious to anyone with half a brain. When i asked for a ballpark figure of how long the wait would be after I put down my name , she rudely told me that she cant guess and that i just have to wait till she calls my name and that there are 2 table ahead of me... Sad and pathetic, as we where really looking forward to their calamari and cocktails and would have gladly waited or returned in an hour if the staff had been half decent. Perhaps management should be more involved and choose someone with a sliver of a personality or at least average people skills to recieve their guests...
