I placed this review 2 days ago and still no response. We used to come to Mosselbay 2-3 times a year for the past 8 years and spend allot of money every time we visit. Because of our bad experience with this restaurant it left a bitter tast in our mouth and we will not return to Mosselbay again. I will ask all my friends and family to give this restaurant a 1 star rating. Maybe then they will catch a wake-up. If there was an option for a zero star rating I would give it. They deserve no star at all. SERVICE = ZERO; CONSISTENCY- ZERO, FAVORITISM- 100%. We went there in December and the place was packed. I ordered snoek from the fire. We waited 2 hours for the food and when it eventually arrived I had the skin part of the fish. We did not complain because we know Mosselbay cannot handle the peak season. We are back again( because family lives here) and I decided to give them another chance. We went on Wednesday for a few drinks and I saw the waitress serve a beautiful piece of fire grilled snoek to a client. I told her about my Desember fiasco and asked that when I come to eat on Friday that I be served with the same size portion of fish. Okay so tonight was a total disaster. Firstly we had very poor service. We had to get up from our table 3 x to call a waiter to take our orders. We got the same waitress we had on Wednesday and she remembered me and my request. Okay eventually the food arrived and there it was, a piece of snoek a 1/4 of the size of the snoek the client had on Wednesday. I send it back with the instruction that I want the same portion fish as what the client recieved on Wednesday evening. When everyone was more than halfway through there food, my husband ask about my food. The waitress simply said, sorry that's the size they have. All she can do is to add an extra piece ( probably at extra cost) on my plate. I canceled my order. This place and Mosselbay will definitely not...

1st time was great, but now this week wendsday was bad!!!!!!! Really bad Really really bad. waited more then a hour for a plain order... the lady that served us got half of our order wrong and show all the people what we ordered ... next time i will sit in the kitchen then i dont have to wait for my food and see how our waiter show my food for everyone .. she should have worked in an art gallery. So we just say it is okay just to eat because we have been waiting for so long!!!

All waiters running like headless chickens . Like the lady with the shorts with all the tattoos

When the bill came.. we ask about the pension that they are running , etc. When the bill came ... o sorry i made a mistake on the special.... and we did not even order the pension special but 1 person did order it...... when i ask is this not the special... o sorry sir my mistake...i will fix it... omg

2nd time and last time

Please dont reply.. we will look into...

A great, relaxed place to hang out and grab something to eat. The setting is very informal, with wooden benches and numerous firepits. It has an old boat for youngsters to play on, while parents watch. It is open-air, or rather open wall so on chilli days make sure you take an extra jacket and try to snag a spot close to the firepit or to one of the furnaces. They have a nice selection of wines and I recommend you try the housewine. They also have a large selection of beers, ciders and shots and then of course your regular hot/cold drinks. Prices are average and compares to franchises like Spur, Panos, etc. The ambience though cannot be matched. Not too wheelchair friendly - there are no steps but the floor is small gravel stones and the tables wooden benches, so maybe call ahead and check with them first. We had the 'braaied' dorado fish (shared a plate as their portions are big) woth chips amd veggies and it was very tasty. I...

The seafood, as always, was spectacular. The calamari, prawns, hake and mussels were so fresh and so delicious. Unfortunately I am disappointed at the rest of the hospitality: • The waitron cannot wait to get away from your table to go and scoop op the next table. • The children's play area is a nuisance as the children would throw pepples on the roof above the diners. No parenst nor children were spoken to. • There is little to no ventilation on the "innner" restaurant, and as such, it gets very humid and uncomfortable. • It seems as if more people come here to get drunk than to eat, thus the ambience is more 'local bar' than 'speciality seafood restaurant'. • The chocolate volcano looked more like a mud pit than a volcano. We waited forever, and when we eventually received the pudding, it was a nondescript, gelatinous goo stuck to the bottom of the ramical bowl.
