I need to be completely honest, I didn't expect Linko to be anything special when I arrived. My sister suggested it and it was my mom's birthday so I was thinking we'd be going somewhere better suited for the event. At first glance Linko didn't strike me as the ideal spot to celebrate my mom's birthday. Boy, let me tell you... I ended up being pretty glad that we ended up there. The menu had quite a few Asian cuisine options such as; sushi, chop suey, chowmein, dumplings, etc. I was feeling for sushi at the time though. I kid you not, the sushi offered at Linko is incredible! Probably the best I've had in ages. The pieces are massive and the portions of salmon and tuna they use is fresh, tasty and incredibly generous. When I say the pieces are big I mean really big. Most of the pieces, on the platter I ordered, needed to be cut up in order to fit them into my mouth. It was such a pleasant surprise. I think I'm so used to being given small, little offerings of sushi wherever I go - not going to mention names but most of the restaurants I've been to offer very dismal portions of sushi. I think many people will agree with me when I say that the avo and especially the tuna/salmon you get on your sushi is minimal. You end up just getting these chunks of rice with smallest portions of the 'good stuff'. I ended up ordering the Linko Platter and it was incredibly filling. I probably had only 7 pieces and I was full. If I compare that experience to other sushi restaurants I've eaten at, the others just don't compare. The sushi at Linko is just tops - 10/10. I also tried the dumplings, incredible as well. The food in general is just mind blowingly good and very well priced. I highly recommend Linko and I can confidently say I'll definitely be going back there again in the future.

Thank you to all the staff at Linko for making my mother's birthday special with the complimentary dessert and sparklers. You...

Linko is a charming, welcoming space in the heart of Obs, with a vibey, semi-eclectic decor that I really enjoyed. The interior is a lot bigger than it appears from the street, and thoughtful laid out for both main menu or sushi dining. The price points of the food are great and the online menu is up to date (just click the website link in the Google location above). Both the usual sushi and stir-fry based options are available, and it's a quick and tasty affair.

Although younger kids may not be super entertained by this dining experience, it is a great option for both family outings and date nights. The location makes the usual Obs parking Olympics unavoidable, but you could always park a little distance away (e.g. the lot opposite the Spar) and walking across. It is possible to find closer spots out of peak times, though.

Staff here are friendly and responsive and the owner clearly cares about his food, guests, and ambience....

I never post reviews but I'll make an exception to warn people. Ordered via Uber Eats on Monday evening and got an extremely bad case of food poisoning, enough to consider going to hospital. I started having symptoms 2 hours after eating the food that just got worse the next day. It's Wednesday now and I'm still not recovered enough to eat normal food. Based on other reviews this is not an isolated incident, especially for take-away orders. Be aware the hygiene and freshness standards are not up to scratch!

As for the food: the kung pao chicken was far too salty - the amount of soy sauce made it inedible even after mixing it with rice, and I'm pretty sure the soy sauce I was given was recycled from someone's table as it was barely half and completely spilled around the container, and had bits of food in it (I did not use it).

If I could give 0 stars I would. If anyone knows of a food inspector hotline where I can report them,...

A restaurant with charming decor and some sas! We were greeted with a great welcome, and had friendly service throughout our brunch. Restaurant was empty (arrived around 12pm). The sushi portions are massive and our food was fresh. One platter was R230 and another R240. One was 23 pieces and the other 24, and each platter came with 4 free dim sim, because we had 2 platters we got 8, of either veg or pork(not pictured). My friend also ordered spring rolls and we both had 2 drinks each. The only problem in Observatory generally is the parking as we walked to the restaurant but would definitely go back regardless. Not recommended for people who like less rice with their sushi. However they do have other food options, which I would like to try when I return.

So one of my friends greatly recommended me to try out the dimsum and soup dumplings at Linko Restaurant. Being a Chinese, I’m more skeptical about the Chinese food being authentic. However, this restaurant did not disappoint me at all. Especially the fried dumplings and spring onion pancakes (congyou bing) so impressive! Also the service was super.! We got good recommendations of what to have by the shop owner. We chilled there for more than two hours and just having jasmine tea eventually but did not get chased away. Lol sorry about the photo, we got too excited and we just digged in..
