Mucuna

Mucuna, or the velvet bean, has been used for centuries in traditional medicine around the world. Caffeine free and with a subtle nutty taste, studies have proven that it is a natural mood enhancer, increases energy, decreases stress, and improves sleep. It has been used as a natural treatment for anxiety, insomnia, stress, and even parkinson's. We are the first (and only!) Coffee shop in the world to serve mucuna. We think it is best served black, but you decide!

Black Lightning

Not for the faint of heart, black lightning is a generous portion of filter coffee topped with espresso (and milk as desired). Richly smooth and delicious, this drink is primarily for those looking for a real jolt in the mornings. (Warning: high caffeine content)

Café Touba (Senegal)

For those looking for something a bit different. Cafe touba is filter coffee expertly mixed with fine black pepper grounds. It provides a little extra spice and warmth to the coffee, and is supposedly also very healthy!

Café Cubano (Cuba)

Born out of dire economic circumstances and a love for coffee, cafe cubano is created by whipping the first few drops of espresso with sugar and adding the rest of the espresso on top. The result is a delicate but accessible espresso experience with an artificial crema. For r20, we'll add steamed milk and make it a cortadito.

Spreeze (Ethiopia)

If the founders of coffee are willing to break down boundaries like this, then we all should be too. Spreeze is a surprisingly delicious and complex blend of strong ceylon tea and filter coffee. Though not exactly the black dot, be warned that this does have more caffeine than your average cup of either filter coffee or ceylon tea.

A new concept. It's a cooperative owned by students, and hosted at this venue. All products used are African. The owners aim to showcase our continent and highlight issues relevant to us. In addition to the coffee shop, they use the venue to host many evening events. Lively African music always on, great coffee, delicious Halaal food that is always fresh, and a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Well worth a visit and many...

First, we got to an open sign but a locked door. When we got inside, there were hardly enough chairs at the tables, it looked dirty. It's a coffee shop, operating from an office space.
