Villa Costa Rose — Hotel in Sea Point

Lots of helpful email traffic via Booking.com before arrival – much appreciated – thank you||Because of the overnight nature of the flight I had booked the room from 31/1 so that we could get access to it from our arrival – so we bought 4 nights and stayed for 3||After our flight from UK we appreciated the warm welcome from Neil – we were shown all security measures – and after breakfast a very detailed and welcomed breakdown of eating and drinking locations locally and by the Waterfront - also walking routes - safety tips - location of hop on hop off bus stops – downloading the Eskom app for load-shedding – and uploading the Uber app||We stayed in Room 7 for 4 nights – king room with a balcony - large space – entrance hall - separate sitting area with sofa and fridge – flat-screen TV - 3 windows - 2 Juliet balconies – through to large master - large comfy bed - 2 wardrobes - chest of drawers - side tables and lamps - controllable air conditioning - doors to balcony with table and chairs - relaxing area - bathroom large - separate bath and shower - latter excellent in terms of flow and control - overall a very comfortable room||Breakfast cooked to order - high standard - fruits cold meats cheese plus toast on offer - indoor and outdoor dining||Neil’s thorough and welcomed briefing drew attention to 6 restaurants – we ate at 4 of his recommendations - never disappointed – all offering interesting menus tasty food and good value – La Boheme (lunch and dinner) Gambas (2 dinners) La Parada (lunch) and Den Anker(lunch)||There is a small pool with loungers – but did not use ||VCR is set in a residential area – just a short walk (less than 10 minutes) uphill from Sea Point’s main road with all its many shops and restaurants – we found the area safe to walk around at night and had no issues walking back to VCR after dinner ||The promenade is a further 5 minute walk away - we walked along the promenade to Victoria & Alfred Waterfront and Camps Bay – we also used the hop on hop off bus with the nearest stop being outside the Winchester Hotel||Although we didn’t see the need to have a car during this stage of our trip VCR has parking spaces to its front and there are also nearby on-street spaces||After our time at VCR and Sea Point – I can’t recommend both too highly - and I feel good that I chose a winner based on Trip Advisor and Hotel website - we would return ||Thank you everyone - Neil and Rob - Phumesa and Gloria - who contributed to our stay...

A quiet, secure, jasmine-scented oasis

Fantastic experience, right from the beginning, with effective and detailed communication from Neil prior to and during check-in.

The garden room was spacious, quiet, clean and comfortable and the garden itself, just beautiful. The pool was clean and the pool area was well-maintained with enough space for all guests (plus the cat) to enjoy it, especially with the beautiful aroma of jasmine all around.

Breakfast selection was extensive and delicious, with both hot and cold options. There were enough tables for all guests to eat inside or outside.

Neil had heaps of suggestions for activities and dining. One standout was La Bohême, just round the corner. Fantastic cocktails and extensive tapas menu (get the bâo buns).
