My friend and I had a lovely late lunch at Simply Asia. We both ordered the Basil Fried Rice (317). One with chicken and one with tofu. Unfortunately both dishes were served with tofu and I really don't like tofu! The waitress wanted to redo my dish but we were pressed for time as I had another engagement. I told her it was ok... The manager came over to apologise for the mistake which I really appreciated. He also discounted the incorrect dish. This is what I call service. I didn't expect them to discount me as I accepted the food as it was. The food was delicious and beautifully presented... Also the first time I've ever tried Jus Cool Basil Seed with Passion Fruit drinks. Soooo yummy! I will definitely eat here again!

I drove 6 kilometres for the worst plate of food at R149!!!!!! Prawn Pad Thai. It is SICKENINGLY sweet! As if a bottle of syrup was dumped into it! A pad Thai isn't supposed to be a sweet dish. THREE prawns, three pieces of tofu (yuk! But they do this to obviously substitute the prawns) and the quantity most certainly does not justify the price I paid. The box is barely halfway full. I should've trusted the reviews on this place. Please don't waste your time, fuel or money. The photos speak for themselves

It was almost empty on a weekend and that should have been a clue. Best way to describe the food was pricey and pretentious. Service was good and you could see she was really making an effort, but clearly, management leaves much to be desired. In a mall where there is so much competition, you have to up your game and the price point is not justified the product.

On Thursday, 28 August 2025 - I ordered lunch from Simply Asia via their app. The order went smooth and I was able to track the order. The app confirmed that the store received my order and also provided me with an ETA of when the food will be ready for collection. I also paid via the app.

I drove to the store to collect my food, only to see that the store is closed. I had to wait infront of the entrance for quite some time, before someone actually stopped to help - everyone just kept on walking past me. The manager then came to explain that they have been renovating and would only open from Friday, 29 August 2025. They looked extremely confused and I had to stand and wait for 15 minutes for someone to explain and give me an answer as to what exactly is happening. They constantly went on about them only opening the next day however if this was the case, they should have closed online orders on their own app.

Thereafter, the store manager advised me that she would now need to contact head office for a refund. I asked her to include me on this email which she did, And she sent my bank details to another person to process the payment. I have yet not received any payment or the proof of payment for this refund.

Whilst I understand that these things do happen, The lack of friendliness when I was at the restaurant alongside the lack of proactiveness to get the payment done, speaks volumes.

Their food has always been good, but SERVICE like this and an experience like this has completely put me off dining or ordering...

As we were standing at the door/front table the waiter was on her phone at the counter we took one menu off the table to browse and we went to stand in front of her with the menu, she did not even acknowledge us, and I said that out loud, yet she continued on her Cell phone, and the restaurant was EMPTY I asked her for another menu and decided to seat ourselves, since we took our seat service went from bad to a little better.

I ordered 531 with prawn it was sooooo bland I asked for mild, you could not even taste the green curry Thai pesto, I had to add in my own chillies+ seafood sauce to give it some flavor. I was really disappointed as I was looking forward to a nice meal. My fiancé ordered 514 with duck and that had some flavor

We had the same bowl but 531 was almost half the portion of 514.

Really disappointed in Simply Asia, what a waste of time and money. If I could I would have given you 0...

Will avoid in future What can I say... the food seems to be "mass produced". I ordered noodles with prawns, mild spice and a glass of dried white wine. What did I get? the noddles where soggy. The prawn over cooked, the sauce very spicy, nothing as "mild". I asked for soy sauce. 10 minutes later (no joke!) the waiter came with the soy sauce. And I have to add that we were 3 occupied tables in the whole place, not busy at all. The wine was super sweet, cheap, nothing of what I ordered. In a normal place I would stand and talk to the manager, but in this place I quickly realized it was going to be a waste of my time. Employees and someone more senior were in the own world... Any case, I highly not recommend this place. The bill was around Euros 10. For South Africa that is a lot for a plate of food and a glass of wine. Soggy food, over cooked, with very "cheap" wine sold at Euros 3 ... Avoid it...
