**Review of Hans and Lloyd Coffee Shop, Muizenberg:** Walking into Hans and Lloyd, the atmosphere is fantastic; the smell of coffee hits you, enveloping you in warmth and comfort. The service here is great, with staff that are attentive and friendly, ensuring your experience is pleasant from the moment you step in. The coffee tastes wonderful, with each cup showcasing the care and expertise that goes into its preparation. I've had breakfast here previously, and it was very delicious, offering a satisfying start to the day. One of the standout features of Hans and Lloyd is its stunning view. From your window, you look out onto Muizenberg beach, watching the rolling breakers. The majestic mountains of Simon's Town and Miller's Point stretch into the distance, with vistas even reaching up to Cape Point. It's not just a coffee shop; it's an experience that connects you with the natural beauty of the area. Highly recommended for both the culinary delights and the visual feast it provides.

The Hans and Lloyd Coffee Co in Muizenberg is a gem of a coffee shop nestled along the seafront. With plenty of surfers around, it's the perfect spot to grab a cup of coffee. And let me tell you, the coffee here is fantastic! They offer a wide variety of warm drinks, and you can even buy their coffee beans to enjoy at home. Their fresh smoothies, juices, and delicious pastries complement the coffee perfectly. Don't miss out on their bacon and cheese quiches—they're absolutely fantastic. The menu is extensive, offering something for everyone. The beachy vibe with wooden floors, railings, chairs, and hanging lights adds to the relaxed atmosphere. And that carrot cake? It's a must-try—fresh, lemony, and not too nutty. Overall, The Hans and Lloyd Coffee Co is a must-visit coffee shop in town!

We waited 30 minutes for our beverages order to get to the table * I ordered an iced coffee only to find out they ran out of ice. We suggested that they should go to get it at the shopping center across the street. * The Hans Healthy Kicker was lukewarm, was annoyed and asked for ice. It made the beverage watery. My husband had to crush the ice to cool the beverage. No crusher on the premises to crush the ice. * The sarmie was overbearing with celantro * the waitress takes forever to come with our hot water with lemon, didn't come in a glass but a cup & cold water with lemon, received no lemon (poor management & waitrons should send go for customer service training). Asked thrice for the bill and it came eventually I won't recommend this eatery

Hans & Lloyd Muizenberg - rather disappointing today. Sat down at a table. After over 5 mins of waiting for a menu, I flagged a waiter down for one. Was given to me & immediately asked what I wanted...despite literally just being handed over the menu. When placing my order of a grande coffee & chicken curry, I was told that they don't do grande, despite it being on the menu, and that they don't serve the curry after 3pm. Same goes for the chicken salad, which was my second choice. Was told that nothing but wraps and toasties were available after 3pm, despite no mention of this on the menu. When I asked about the 'All Day Breakfast' options stated on the menu, I was again told that they do not serve this after 3pm. How is it 'All Day' then? Went for a chicken mayo toastie with extra cheese, a cappuccino and a glass of water with lemon. The coffee was bitter and the toastie came through sans the extra cheese. After waiting 15 mins for the water, I flagged another waiter to ask for it. It arrived without the lemon, even though I had specifically asked for it again. Nobody came to check on me after the food arrived, or ask if I needed anything else later on. I was just presented with a bill later on, with an abrupt 'we're closing'. Any of these things individually wouldn't have been an issue at all, but collectively, they added up to a disappointing experience. I discussed this with the waitress when paying and they apologised for the poor experience and said they hoped I'd come back so that they could do better next time. I have been here twice before though and neither time received particularly good service. Sadly, this last poor experience was the third strike, so I doubt I'll be back. Such a pity, as the decor & vibe are great and the toastie was very tasty.

Questions for the H&L management -

  1. What is the logic of not serving most of the food menu during 3-5pm? These are the higher ticket items, so aren't you limiting your potential take over this time?
  2. Any chance you can update your menu with clearer information about what is available at what times of the day, to avoid customer...

So much to say about this place. If you're looking for a short review then this isn't it.

The atmosphere is incredibly warm and cosy on a cold day with a fireplace and multiple heaters and fresh and vibrant on a hot day. The interior design of the space was done with so much thought for every detail that everything seems to fit just right to make the space feel natural.

The coffee (which is my favorite part) is absolutely amazing and easily the best in the area. Espresso, the cup has bright flavors and really pleasant acidity, the finish is one of the cleanest finishes I've ever tasted with zero unpleasant acidity. If you are not an espresso kinda person this may well change your mind, but that's just my opinion. I take my hat off to the roaster of the Outer Kom coffee. We appreciate you. This has definitely become my favorite coffee spot in Cape Town.

If coffee is not your thing then there are great "all day" breakfast options and some really nice lunch options that are affordable and definitely worth checking out. Oh by the way I know people say this about coffee spots all the time but they really do have the best carrot cake in muizenberg, seriously you'd have to check for yourself if you don't want to believe me.

Lastly, the place is kept clean and the facilities are well maintained. The staff are friendly and always helpful. If this detailed review is not enough to peek your interest then maybe some of the other reviews will. But if you're in the area you'll be missing out if you...

We arrived at 2:50pm ….. saw a 6 person table that was empty ….. asked the staff if the table was free and if we could sit there ….. they said yes.

Sat down at the table ….. a couple of the kids were super hungry so they went to the deli counter to get something quick. We waited politely to be served ….. lots of serving staff not really doing much and with any eye contact the staff gestured as though they would be over to us any second to help ….. but they weren’t rushing over.

Then the second the clock turned 3pm, a waiter came over to tell us that the kitchens were now closed and we couldn’t order.

Shocked to say the least.

I then clarified the exact policy ….. as long as we had placed our order before 3pm then the kitchen would have made our order. The second it turns 3pm they won’t take orders.

Put another way, the staff offered us a table only to then deliberately ignore us for 10 minutes so that neither the serving staff nor the kitchens would have to do anything for the final hour of business.

When I asked why we were left waiting at a table for 10 minutes and that someone should simply have flagged that kitchens closed at 3pm and so we should hurry to get our orders in on time ….. the response was a...
