📍 @truthcoffee.capetown One of the highlights of our trip to @visitsouthafrica was @truth.coffee in @lovecapetown! We loved it so much we went back twice and bought some beans for souvenirs. What we ordered - cortado with Black Honey coffee beans, espresso martini, shakshuka, fresh squeezed oj, chocolate croissant. Be prepared to get spanked if you ask for sugar. They don’t actually spank you but that’s how serious they are about their coffee process. #localadventurer #truthcoffee #capetowncoffee #southafricatrip #southafricatourism #capetownisawesome #southafricantourism #capetownguide #capetowntravel #capetownlove #southafricatravel #capetownbest #capetowntourism #capetownvibes #VisitSouthAfrica #capetownliving #cityofcapetown #lovecapetown #capetownsouthafrica #capetownmag #southafricaza #coffeeaddicts #coffeecommunity #coffeeholic #coffeecoffeecoffee #coffeeislove

There is but one truth as to the best coffee and most epic coffee and dining experience on the planet, and that is Truth Coffee of Cape Town. While on business last week for the first time ever to sensuous South Africa, I simply stumbled upon Truth my first morning in Cape Town. Marvin and the front door hosts greeted me with a smile and handed a savory menu of in-house pasties and intricately designed meals of tasty and tasteful beauty. Mathabo then with a pleasant smile and a clever touch of humor with the lost American guided me through the papers, which is the menu of Truth. She brought me my first Truth flat white. Mathabo’s friendly and understated delivery of the best coffee I’ve ever tasted on the planet will always remain with me. After savoring the Steampunk Benedict, it was Niki and Nathan (and a second Nathan) who guided me with much fun and many smiles to the Truth of Pastries, with Mathabo helping me grab the right merch of Truth (I got the cycling jersey!). Finally, before my sojourn of Truth came to a close, the “Barista of South Africa,” Elson (I will confirm!), greeted me to an impromptu lesson on how to create the true Truth flat white. Imagine artist, chemist, and gentleman, all combined into one awesome guy. His passion for the perfect coffee is the essence of Truth. To lead manager Joaõ and team, while my visit to South Africa from Virginia USA was too brief, it actually was complete, by having found all of you at Truth Coffee in Cape Town. Caffeinated hugs back to ya from your biggest fan in Virginia! -Allen

Truth be told: the coffee was very enjoyable - they have a nice selection on offer… some unique variants too! It was late morning, in a week-day… yet, the place was packed to the brim indoors; Leads me to suggest: make a booking ahead of time, if you are not planning on being blown away by the Cape Town wind, whilst seated in the gazebo outside. They’ve attempted to make the outdoor seating more fun, by adding 2 swinging seats in one section, but being outside in the wind was not what we signed up for - not knowing that the place would be so extremely packed. Well, we were seated & handed menus… then…. we were forgotten… even though we were one of only 2 couples under the gazebo, the waitron who handed us our menu walked past the gazebo more than 5 times without even glancing our way; eventually, I had to approach one of the waiting staff, to enable us to place our order. The coffee was good, with a unique aroma & flavour, but indeed not exceptional. We were super-excited to share in my son’s positive experience here, but were sorely underwhelmed. Apologies, but that’s the TRUTH! The 3 stars for the atmosphere is based on: 1. The unique alternative seating available outside 2. The fun swings that are available in the gazebo area 3. The exposure to the windy weather 4. The sad reality we experienced first-hand, the possibility does exist, that patrons may be forgotten of, when seated outside. We shall most certainly be back to try some of the other coffees on offer, but we’ll make a booking this time, for sure …in an attempt to be secure seating indoors & in the hope of receiving more favourable service.

Myself and a friend attended a Swing Dance event there on the 26th May. Let me start by saying the event was fun, the music was amazing, the band was awesome and the dancers really showed off some great moves! The venue however, left a lot to be desired. We decided to have a gin and tonic and grab a plain beef burger and chips each. My friend went to the bar to place the order and came back with our "drinks" and a shocked look. The bartender hadn't asked anything about how we wanted the drinks and had made them in small plastic cups. Usually that wouldn't be a problem, but they had charged her R180 for these two tiny drinks...and they tasted disgusting! It honestly tasted like it was made with 90% bitters with a dash of grey water (with gravel for garnish). We then got out "food". In boxes. With no cutlery, serviettes, no sauces or salt for the chips, nothing. I will say the chips were good, crispy and fluffy which was the only good thing. But I've seen sawdust cakes that had more moisture and possibly more flavour than that burger. The rolls were obviously pre toasted as they were hard like hockey pucks. And how much were we charged for this? R190. Almost R400 for an almost inedible burger, (I did try to finish it, but even after getting a knife and fork to try cut it, I only managed half), and two drinks that tasted like we were drinking crusty dirt water. I will never go back. What a complete was to money.

They serve easy to make brunch food for a costly price. However, a great, unique atmosphere and good place if you are a coffee lover. The sunrise espresso was delicious - it has a hint of caramel flavor, although it's juice orange juice blended with espresso. My advice would be to increase the food portion size.I wouldn't come again because it was too pricey for small portions. Our shakshuka was small even though we added items to it. Their french toast did not come with whipped cream, thus very sweet. The atmosphere is unique and more of pub look ( although coffee house). The chairs are not comfortable ( giving more of a come and go fast vibe) , and the table has sharp edges. I didn't notice that the ceiling had hanging plugs until I hit my head on one. The waitress should have given the guest a warning about this or let them know where they can plug their electronics. Having been to so many cafés in CapeTown, this is not my favorite . It's more of a tourist trap. Its target customers are tourists and not locals, hence exuberant prices. Rather, go to kloof Street, where you would find an abundance of restaurants to choose from. However, if you are a coffee lover, this cafe is a must try.

Exquisite coffee experience … still beats all the coffees I’ve tried before … their breakfasts are insanely good and love the vibe and decor … Unbelievably they have been voted in the top coffees of the world … Truth Coffee Roasting has specialized in selecting and roasting some of the world’s most exclusive coffees. Named the world’s best coffee shop by the The Daily Telegraph for two years in a row, we strive to have you Taste the Joy of the Extraordinary and I dare say I do agree .. “Truth Coffee Roasting shop in Buitenkant street, Cape Town, has been mentioned by acclaimed UK news agency, The Telegraph, as being the very best in the whole world – and we agree they’re the cream of the crop! From a list of 13 unique coffee shops and roasteries in the world, Truth’s steampunk-inspired artisan coffee shop – a warehouse filled from top to bottom with metal piping and quirky, old machinery – surfaced on top, grinding out some of the top shops in France, Vienna, Singapore and Italy. “ Loved the eggs Benedict and French toast !

Quirky cafe that's a steampunk world of pipes and old metal, with gourmet, home-roasted coffee.
