On The Plate — Restaurant in Busan

One of South Korea’s and Asia’s most luxurious buffets, On The Plate is located in the Paradise Hotel in Busan, South Korea.

We stayed at the Paradise Hotel with American Express’ Fine Hotel and Resorts program and it’s a fantastic collaboration.

The stay includes a ₩130,000 resort credit for each room that can be used for any of the property restaurants. Given the high price for On The Plate, it is the perfect use for the hotel credit.

On The Plate has a gorgeous entrance and the food selection is fantastic: Peking Duck, raw marinated crab, sushi and sashimi galore and a grill featuring numerous quality beef selections.

Having recently tried A Joy in Taipei, I thought the sushi and sashimi selection here were superior as well as the much better seafood collection topped by the best crab choice, King Crab. The legs are meaty and substantial.

Regional selections include an extensive Korean banchan and multiple short rib selections.

Service is excellent and we made reservations and were given seaside view seats.

Definitely worth a...

Subpar standard for a high-end hotel buffet. Small selection and average food quality with higher price tag compared to Vegas hotel buffets. Save your money for a high end fresh water eel restaurant in Gangnam, Wagyu shabu or steak and Otoro tuna sushi in Tokyo. Service of the waitresses were very welcoming and attentive. Hotel ambience is high class. Unfortunately the buffet food was quite disappointing at $150 at full pop. Do your research before going to Busan restaurants. Street market food and mom&pop shops at dirt cheap prices didn’t disappoint like...

If you're looking for an amazing breakfast buffet with a ton of variety, On The Plate is definitely the place to go. They have a great selection of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean dishes, and the staff are always friendly and attentive. That said, some of the dishes didn't quite hit the mark for me – the bread pudding and congee were both a bit of a letdown. But everything else was great!
