제주섬돈 — Restaurant in Jeju

Jeju Seomdon was tucked in a residential area about 5 minutes walk from the Nuwemaru shopping street. Street parking was a challenge, but there was a public car park with limited spots a minute away.

This bbq specialises in Jeju black pork. Two of us ordered the 400gm whole ribs, 200gm black pork belly, 200gm black pork shoulder, and bone soup. We over ordered as usual and there was too much food.

The black pork belly and shoulder were delicious. Our server cooked them to perfection, crisp on the outside but still moist and tender on the inside. What we liked was that the pork did not have a meaty smell nor taste. Unlike the ribs which had a porky smell but that seemed to be a favourite among all patrons.

The bone broth was rich and thick, cooked with daikon and large portions of meat. The soup was served with rice.

Service was excellent. Staff were helpful and notedly did not pressure us to order more nor rush through dining unlike larger more popular establishments that cater to tourists. Perhaps it was because Jeju Seomdon had a local crowd.

I will return here for my black pork bbq fix and recommend...

제주섬돈 is one of my favorite BBQ black pork places on the island. I really enjoy their side dishes because they're not too salty like some other restaurants. I highly recommend trying the pork belly and shoulder—they're incredibly delicious! What I love most is that there's no strong pork smell or taste. By chance we walked into this grill restaurant. The service was very good. The owner came in after a while and took over the grilling of the meats. Young and friendly boss. He served us free porridge (not on the menu) which was really delicious 👍. He talked to all the guests in the restaurant and they all seemed to be regulars who know him well.
