Three of us visited this restaurant and, after a short wait, were able to enter. While waiting, we could write down our names, party size, and pre-select our meals, so we noted that we would order three dishes (two regular eggplant hot pots and one spicy eggplant hot pot).
Soon enough, we were seated, excited to enjoy our meal. When the first eggplant hot pot arrived, I handed it to my mother, but seeing the color, I noticed it was redder than expected. I asked the staff member who brought it, and they corrected it was the spicy version. Thankfully, my father had ordered the spicy one, so I passed it to him instead.
The two regular eggplant hot pots were served shortly afterward, but even after 15 minutes, the third had not arrived. A younger staff member came over, asking how we had ordered. We repeated our order, and he rushed to the kitchen to communicate that an additional eggplant hot pot was still needed.
We waited an extra 10 minutes without any update on what was happening. I asked a male staff member who seemed like a manager whether our order had been missed. Without any clear explanation, he only said it would be out soon. I pointed out that while mistakes can happen, they should at least update us on the status, so we know whether to keep waiting.
Eventually, the missing dish arrived, but while we were eating, the same male staff member came over and handed us a couple of sodas as an apology, though he had not explained the situation earlier. We declined the sodas and asked him to take them back.
Even though it was past lunchtime and the restaurant was not crowded, the staff seemed overwhelmed. Mistakes happen, but a quick explanation and a plan to address the situation would have kept us in better spirits.
To add to the disappointment, the food was overly salty—even for someone accustomed to Korean food. There was also an unpleasant burnt taste, perhaps from not enough oil in the pot.
Looking around, I noticed many foreign guests. This restaurant could benefit from improving both customer service and food quality.
I came to this location hoping to share a pleasant experience with my parents, as I had enjoyed another branch before. However, after this experience, I would not return. It wasn’t a cheap meal, so I’d recommend choosing a...
Read moreAfter exploring the serene temple and charming traditional village nearby, we stopped at Damsot Anguk for lunch — and it turned out to be one of our favorite meals in Seoul. The restaurant strikes a fascinating balance between a local Korean atmosphere and an international-friendly vibe, making it welcoming to both locals and travelers.
The presentation was beautiful: a steaming hot pot filled with richly flavored meat, topped with fresh scallions and chili, served alongside crisp lettuce, tangy pickles, kimchi, and a fragrant broth poured from a teapot. The flavors were bold yet harmonious, with perfectly tender meat and seasoning that hit all the right notes.
Service was smooth and unobtrusive, allowing us to fully enjoy the meal at our own pace. It’s a place that feels authentic without being intimidating, and we left both satisfied and impressed.
Rating: 9/10 – A delicious, well-presented, and memorable lunch in the heart of Anguk. Highly...
Read moreI visited Bukchon Hanok village mid-October with my boyfriend, and we stumbled upon this restaurant while wondering what we should have for lunch. There seemed to be a short waitlist ahead of us, so we put our name, number of people, and dishes on the list. We were called on shortly, and we enjoyed our dishes! I enjoyed the salmon over rice, and my boyfriend liked his steak over rice. You may ask for assistance on how to eat the dish, but there are also little pictures with instructions on each table! The customer service was great, and we enjoyed the cute little yakukts they gave us...
