This spot is hype. If you are heading there now, be advised there are TWO lines! First line is for a seating spot in the AC/heated zone. Please go to the left and enter directly for takeout or outside seating. If you can divide your party definitely send someone inside to start your order while you wait for an inside seat. That said, worth the wait (barely). We arrived at peak time on a Monday around 9am and ended our experience about 12:30pm. We took so many pastries we were able to take some home for the next breakfast. Here is our rating of each: Green Tea Scone: 3⭐ ; flavor icing only in the middle area and was not flavorful enough in the bake itself. Jelly (Purple fig & black currant) 4 ⭐; the BC jelly made the scone enjoyable. I wouldn't have finished it without this perfectly sweet little condiment. The purple fig did not hit the same as the BC jelly, perhaps a little too sweet. Vegetable Pizza 3⭐ ; good vegetable choice and did not soggy to bread. The bread itself was semi sweet so it came together well but lacked something, I am not sure what. Cheese bomb: 4⭐ ; such an unusual combination of flavors. Truly a novel bite. The cheddar like cheese is unexpected and adds to the sweet bread, we believe the sweetness came from the condensed milk coating the bread. Inside the nuts made it come together so well. I wish I could give this a five star but my partner didn't care for it as she was a bit thrown off by this combination of flavors and I must take into account her opinion on her palette. Strawberry Cream Shortbread 5⭐; a classic trio made perfection in their proportions and execution. Sausage Chilli Bread 5⭐; what a gagger. The meat and bread were delightfully proportioned and warmed with the chilli sauce. Garlic Butter Bread 5⭐; this was our favorite savory, we are suckers for garlic. It's large and in charge, somehow a little sweet and perfectly soft through and through. Pistachio Croissant 4⭐; this hit, it was subtle in its icing but this was just enough to compliment the buttery croissant underneath. Sugar Cone 3⭐; absolutely instagram worthy mountain peak of sugar on this bread cone. But the flavor was reminiscent of a sugar doughnut. The black iced Americano was on point and the seasonal yuzu honey black tea was 🔥

This was such a sweet cafe. I went when it was raining so I didn’t have to experience much of a queue and there were plenty of seats to choose from. The aesthetic of the cafe was great and I really loved the cozy wooden feel of it. And the pastries I chose were phenomenal. I chose a savory pollack avocado roll, which was actually savory! A lot of foods in Korea are very sweet when they could greatly benefit from not being so sweet, and this was one of them. It was just great, I loved the pollack because it was thinly spread across a roll and paired with mayo and avocado for moisture across the baguette. The baguette it was on was great too because it wasn’t too hard or too sharp to eat! And I also chose a strawberry croissant, which was really good too. It seemed more like a little girl’s dream food which is why I chose the whimsical looking bright pink strawberry decorated croissant. It was very princessy, and just tasted great. Minus the glaze, which could easily be pulled off, it wasn’t too sweet and I really enjoyed it. They have a really good cacao tea latte. I will think of this tea for years to come, as it was delicious and not too sweet. So good! And perfect temperature so I could drink it almost immediately. There were nice herbal notes too and the chocolate wasn’t overpowering. Get this! The only thing that would be an issue is that the space seems like it would be hard for the disabled to enter. It’s a lot of narrow spaces, tight turns, and randomly located steps. The accessibility is low, but the employees were really kind so I think that they would be able to assist you in getting something to eat and seating you somewhere. Overall, a great spot! Trendy but actually worth the hype!

The onion is an experience on its own. We arrived and had to get in line ( there were 2 lines, one who wanted to dine inside and the other line to dine outside) we got in line to dine outside. There it already started to get annoying since the Korean culture is more inclined to first reserve a seat and then get in line to order. That's why others came later but were already reserving themselves seats. Which brings me to the question why is there even a line/ queue if others just push past you... And the other annoying part was that some came and started standing in the "only exit line" mostly Koreans (while they had a sign saying it's an exit and it was written in Korean,English & Japanese if I'm not mistaken...) well after that a server came and let us "in" so we could order. Inside it was really nicely organised. You had to move in a circular direction around the pastries and at the beginning you could take a tray and tongs to get your pastries. At the other side of the starting point was the row for the cashier's. While waiting in line they had put up menus for the drinks. After choosing and paying you got an alarm-thingy (sorry don't know what it's called ) and could wait at your seat until your order was ready to go and get your things. The pastries we chose were a pistachio croissant and a nut pastry. Both were really delicious and not too sweet or too dry. And the drinks were delicious as well. But my chocolate drink was a little too heavy for me and didn't match well with the pastries. (Sounded interesting so I got it instead of my beverage of choice - coffee). The sleep-well tea (don't remember the exact name) was really nice. Oh and it was really crowded. Both tourists and Koreans.

This place is English friendly and worth experiencing. Be prepared to wait as this place is popular but it is efficient. It took 1 hour from waiting in line to me having my order. What to expect: waiting…if you want to dine inside the wait is longer but I think worth it if you want AC. There are 2 lines: LEFT for seating INSIDE & Right for Outside or take out. A host will walk you to an available table inside (for outside, you pick your table). To save that table, you’ll leave a personal item, I left my bag. It’s self serve, so you’ll go to the shop, grab a tray with a liner, and wait in line. The pastries are all in display for you to pick whichever your tastebuds desire. You select as you approach the pastries. There are beverage menus for you to look over before you reach the cashier. Eventually, the line ends at the cashier where you can order your choice of beverage. I chose the iced Strawberry Milk Tea (yum) & not too sweet. I also ordered an iced Americano and the Cream Cheese Garlic Baguette which was savory and sweet but not too sweet. You’re given a pager to alert you when your beverage is ready for pick up. Overall, I enjoyed my experience here. Being able to sit enjoy my brunch in a Hanok with American oldie music playing in the background made for a very easy & chill vibe. Perfect way to start my sightseeing of Changdeokgung & Gyeongbokgung palaces which are conveniently close to the café.

We had a chance to visit Café Onion at Anguk on Thursday morning around 11 AM. The shop is not very far from the station; very easy to reach Just look up on the map. The queue was long already in the morning, but mainly for people who want to sit inside which is the old traditional hanok style. We decided not to wait in the queue, but got the table outside. The queue took at least half an hour or more, while waiting for the queue you must already pick a tray and pick the sweets or desserts that that you like along the queue line as you will not be able to move backwards. The kitchen would bring out newly baked bread, pizza or other desserts from time to time. Two of us picked four of them today. Two coffee one was ice Americano, and the other one was vanilla bean latte with oat milk. The latte was good, but not very strong. If you like extra strong, you should definitely add extra shot. The outdoor area was nice, but a bit chilly without the sun and a lot of pigeons, which are not scared of the people at all 😅 Overall, it was one of the good cafés in town closer to the palace; the tourist attraction area. If you come during lunchtime, you could expect a lot more to you I guess Or a super during the weekend and comparing to the weekday morning like this.

I went on a Monday morning, and there was no queue outside yet. Once you get inside, you'll need to line up for around 30 minutes for them to take your order, especially if the people in front of you are part of big groups. Not a bad thing though since they constantly replenish the breads and pastries, and you might be able to pick another one while waiting. What I ordered: Chocolate Latte They weren't kidding when they said this is the best Chocolate Latte you'll ever have. It has hints of Earl Grey Tea and Mint—all my favorite flavors combined! I usually get iced drinks even if it's cold, but this time, I asked their barista if he prefers the chocolate latte hot or iced. He said hot, so that's what I ordered. He was right. Pretty sure you won't appreciate the flavors that much when it's iced. I also ordered their Strawberry Pastry and omg that was soo good! The pastry was so crunchy and flaky and the custard inside was not too sweet, which complements the sweetness of the strawberries on top. I honestly haven't had strawberries as sweet as those! I also ordered a Chocolate Scone to go (which eventually reached the Philippines later that day) and it was still soooo good! Definitely coming back when I visit Korea again.
