This small bakery specializes in San Francisco-style bagels, using sourdough and a traditional fermentation method.
I quite enjoy the taste of the bagels here! They can be ever-so-slightly crisp on the outside, while the inside is springy and chewy. The fruit- and chocolate-flavored bagels have a subtle sweetness to them. Overall, these hand-made bagels, which are baked fresh daily, are SO much better than any soggy, mass-produced version elsewhere in Korea.
Prices range between 2500 and 3000 KRW per bagel. If you pre-order 6 bagels, you'll get 1 plain bagel for free.
For vegans: The dough itself is plant-based, but many bagels are not vegan because of toppings and fillings! Basically, all bagels with toppings - including grains, seeds, oats! - are not vegan: They use an eggwash (made from eggwhites) to attach the toppings to the raw dough before baking.โAlso, if you have allergies, be aware that cross-contamination is possible, since bagels are stored directly next to each other. Vegan bagels are e.g. plain, whole wheat, fig, blueberry and chocolate. It is best to ask the baker which vegan options are available that day.
Once a week on Saturdays, they offer vegan cinnamon buns as well! In addition to that, they can make vegan pita bread or your choice of bagels upon pre-order (order via Instagram, at least 1 day in advance). Staff is friendly and helpful with regard to checking ingredients.
The store is very small, and in the winter time, it operates for take-out only. Technically, there is a seating area outdoors, but it is only available during the...
ย ย ย Read moreThis is the cutest little bagel shop! The sourdough bagels are made from scratch and the cream cheese is prepared in-house. The smell wafting out of the shop is irresistible. I ordered a plain sourdough bagel with honey-peanut cream cheese. The owner is SO sweet and kind. She will toast your bagel for you and spread the cream cheese. There is a small patio with two tables and chairs outside. The owner even set up a fan to blow cool air on us while we ate. The shop supports KoRoot (a Korean adoptee organization) which was heartwarming since my mom is a Korean adoptee! I highly recommend enjoying a delicious bagel and supporting this woman-run...
