VAULT +82 — Restaurant in Seoul

It could have been so much better...……. We arrived (a couple) for a birthday dinner on a Monday night(not busy) and were shown immediately to our reservation. The menus arrived and we ordered a glass of wine each. It was so dimly lit I couldn't read the menu without the use of my phone. I had been looking forward to a good steak all day and this restaurant advertises itself as "the best Steakhouse in Korea" and having a Michelin Guide Review - read it if you go, its very ordinary. It deteriorated from there firstly with the red wine being chilled. We chose our steaks from the limited weight range and they were brought to our table and displayed. We specifically repeated our cooking instructions to ensure they were understood and waited for our meals to arrive. Bread and water were duly delivered to the table. The meals arrived and our steaks had been cut into pieces??? and(mine) placed back against the T-bone Why would you do that?. My medium-rare steak was rare and my wife's medium was rare as well. Not wishing to spoil the evening we cut in and started to eat our meals hoping the Chef knew best. We've eaten in Morton's in Singapore so we know you can get good meat in Asia but this wasn't it. There were parts of the cut that were tasty and not chewy but on the whole they didn't live up to any reputable International steakhouse standards. The sides were nothing special either. Creamed spinach and mashed potato could have been from Outback. The staff had turned their attention to other diners by now and no one asked us if they could get us anything and if we were enjoying our meal. Disappointing. We're going to try Lawry's next time...
