Osteria San Gennaro — Restaurant in Adeje

Quite a surprise to find this little restaurant just up the road promising authentic Italian food. The waitress was very friendly and After outrage from our teenage children that they actually didn’t serve pizzas, we chose from the specials board and the menu. We had little complimentary hummus bruschetta delivered just after the drinks and you knew it was going to be a good meal. The sulking soon stopped from our moody children and they tucked into lasagne and spinach and ricotta Ravioli with smiles on their faces! We had steak with mushroom sauce and Canarian fried potatoes and it was lovely. Having read reviews we were excited to try this restaurant. We sat at a table next to garden area with dog poo in sight . waiter was not happy about us moving to another table in an empty restaurant.Ordered sauteed clams and mussels which were in an unexpected thick tomato sauce with olives and fried croutons which overpowered the whole dish, none of which was fresh or tasty. Our seafood pizza arrived smothered in exactly the same thick gravy like sauce with the same mussels and some large prawns looking more like pizza stew. We enjoyed a 1st class meal here, so good we went back the next night! Food was delicious, the Truffle Ravioli was one of the best things I have ever tasted. Kids loved the Pizzas which I scooped a few slices off (tremendous). House red was great, came at a nice temp and was nice and smooth. Service was excellent, great level of interaction from waiting staff and from chef/owner. There was also a small show of flaring from behind the bar one night which was pretty cool. Attention to detail was great, from the large specials board delivered to the end of your table, to the complimentary small taster starter bite and Lemon cello at the end.
