We had a wonderful, homely, welcoming evening with Sonia and Sebastian. They are truly wonderful hosts and the food was excellent - it was cooked fresh with fantastic local ingredients and cooked and served with great care. Sonia and Sebastian are wonderful hosts; we felt very much at home. We ordered a local red wine which was excellent, the best Mallorcan wine I've tasted. We were given a small dish of home-made alioli which is the best I've ever tasted, plus some sausage meat on bread which was divine. Then we had fried baby squid, fried prawns, and a cod dish with tomatoes. All very, very tasty and prepared and served with care. Finally a wonderful Majorcan cream dish (like a cheesecake) for dessert with a home made jam/marmalade and a local herb liqueur mixed in Sebastian's special blend of herbs. We didn't really know what we were ordering so we asked for advice, and were very, very happy with the result. Many, many thanks Sonia and Sebastian for the most enjoyable evening we had during our stay, even though other nights were great, this...
Read moreThis small restaurant facing the port of Alcúdia was the most joyous and fun of our week. The fishermen came in just after we did with their day’s catch and the chef brought out a platter of fresh seafood telling us how he recommended we have it prepared. Sonia (of the restaurant name) made delicious sangria and bruschetta to start while the seafood was cooking. The two of them clearly see the meal as a collaboration with guests, asking about tastes and preferences, and adjusting on the fly. All with joyous smiles and laughter. Presentation was elegant but simple. We arrived as doors opened and dessert was not yet ready after our meal but Sonia improvised, turning a Neapolitan ice cream bar into a lovely dessert with frambuesa jam swirls and mint leaves. The price was far lower than I expected and we had a delightful time. I only wish we’d found it sooner so we could...
Read moreI recently dined at a restaurant in Alcúdia, Spain, and unfortunately, my experience was less than satisfactory. Despite being the first customers, my friend and I experienced long wait times for both our sangria and paella, with a 40-minute wait for the sangria and a staggering 1-hour wait for the paella. While the service was friendly, it was disappointingly slow. The paella, while okay, was lacking in seafood and overall quite simple in flavor. The shrimp we ordered were tasteless and clearly before frozen, which was a major letdown considering the high price of 14€. Additionally, the sangria, priced at 18€, was deemed too expensive for the quality. Overall, the dining experience was not worth the money spent, leaving us deeply dissatisfied and disappointed. I would caution others against dining at...
