100 Montaditos — Restaurant in Alicante

In January 2023 we visited the 100 Montaditos near Alicante Marina and enjoyed two pints of Latino for 2€ each. There was a large terrace with plenty of tables and chairs overlooking the golden sands of Postiguet beach. There was a great tapas menu with small filled baguettes starting at 1€ each. The staff were very friendly and hard working ensuring that the tables were cleared regularly. The eatery was very busy, partly due to a cruise ship that had just docked. There was a keycode system to use the toilets (code stamped onto the receipt). I usually enjoy 100 Montaditos who have good service and good food and beer at a reasonable price. However, I then visited this branch. It was only 7:30pm but there was a huge queue. So I went to the toilet first only to find you need a special code?? I queue up with everyone else and stand there for ten minutes watching as the queue didn't move with only two staff serving and the remaining 4 staff members just hanging around. Then one of the hanger arounders decided he would be productive by screaming 'fuera, fuera!' at the customers who were queuing. It seemed his priority was to rudely force the queue to form outside and not in the restaurant which had very few seated as everyone was queuing. Terrible service, terrible attitude, very rude,...

100 Montaditos on the beach in Alicante for lunch... food was decent, but service is basically non-existent. The ordering process was a bit confusing, and I was relieved to know some Spanish to be able to communicate. To keep it simple-choose inside or outside seating first. Menus are part of their table tops, but you can also request one at the counter. Ordering is done up at the counter, and then they notify that the food is ready to carry to your table. Not a lot of drink options. I was surprised to find this is a large chain of restaurants spanning multiple countries. Great views of the beach at this location.
