We were excited to try the fresh look of the marina bar ‘Samoa’ having being regulars at ‘soho’ bar at this spot for more than 10 years. The venue is looking nice. It was beginning to look tired, so it’s nice to see it has been renovated under new ownership. On approach to the venue there is a sign which states.’wait to be served’. It was an extremely hot day (31+) and after waiting at the sign for 5 minutes and no one acknowledging us, we proceeded and went to choose a table as there were many empty ones available. We were quickly approached by a young lady in a long blue belted dress, who asked are we english, to which I replied ‘yes’. She said ‘’well you can read the sign then that tells you to wait!’’ (How rude is that!) i advised that we had waited for 5 minutes and had not been greeted. She huffed and walked off. I assume she was some sort of management as she wore a different uniform to the others, and continued to strut up and down policing the place, even greeting other customers In the same curt way. Some of which did not stay. If a business has someone front of house then that should be their job, and they should remain front of house to greet all customers that turn up. Not keep people waiting. After being confronted by this rude lady, I questioned whether or not I wanted to stay, but we had such lovely memories of all the visits to the previous ‘soho’ bar here that we thought that we would try and forget about the rude lady’s action and stay for a drink. Drinks were viewed digitally via a QR code no printed menu for us to peruse. They were expensive and not much variety of different brands of spirits! When I asked for a vodka, I was told only one vodka brand! (Which was a high end, expensive brand) And even the soft drinks list was limited. We didn’t have to wait long for our drinks, however the service was nothing like the wonderful staff of ‘soho’. On finishing our drinks we tried for 15 minutes to get our bill, so in the end went up to the bar to pay. We won’t be returning. Staff are extremely rude and have a lot to learn from the previous owners( soho) in...
Read moreAwful place! Don’t be fooled by how lovely it looks, they had terrible customer service. Myself and boyfriend stood for 10 minutes waiting for someone to sit us down as we stood at the “wait to be seated” sign. We decided to go in ourselves and sit ourselves down at one of the many empty tables available. After waiting another 10 minutes, we flagged someone who looked like a manager down. She asked were we always sitting at this table and we replied no. She told us that we were to wait at the sign until someone sat us down. We explained we waited 10 minutes and she was not happy by our response and said “it’s a very big sign”…she said someone would be over to serve us. After waiting an additional 5/10 minutes, no one served us, so we left. Awful customer service and awful manners. Would not recommend this...
Read moreSamoa bar is in a lovely location looking out onto the marina. It was pretty busy and I couldn’t get a table right at the front in the sun - it had to be the balcony (or inside). An excellent spot for people-watching, it’s at the end of the Esplanada d’Espana, beside the Tourist office near Postiguet beach. I agree with other reviewers - it’s more expensive for a beer here compared with the main city or the old town. I paid 6 euros for a large beer on the balcony, while if you search around you can get a large beer for less elsewhere - but I guess you pay extra at Samoa for the lovely marina views. It’s certainly a pleasant spot for lunch. Service was OK, it could have been faster but I wasn’t in a hurry. I can't comment on the food as I...
