La Crispeta, Alicante: A True Culinary Revelation Near the Museums La Crispeta is a wonderful find in the heart of Alicante, offering a relaxed and easy-going escape just moments from the MACA and MUBAG museums. This small, unpretentious establishment instantly sets a comfortable tone with its laid-back playlist and welcoming vibe. The service is exceptional. The team is quick and efficient without ever giving the impression that they’re rushing customers. It’s clear they take genuine pride in their offerings, creating a dining atmosphere that is both polished and personable. The menu delivers high-quality Spanish classics with mastery. I opted for the Solomillo Ibérico (Iberian pork sirloin). The meat was incredibly tender and succulent, perfectly complemented by a rich and delicious mushroom cream sauce. The choice of grilled vegetables alongside the pork was a fantastic pairing, adding freshness and balance. I also couldn't resist adding a portion of Padrón peppers after seeing them delivered to a neighboring table! However, the standout surprise of the evening was the Chuletas de Cordero Lechal (suckling lamb chops) my wife ordered. While past experiences elsewhere had made me reluctant to order this dish, the chops at La Crispeta were a complete revelation. They were miles away from the tough, "iron-hard" versions we'd had before—tender, flavorful, and served as a surprisingly generous portion. This dish is definitely worth ordering and showcased the kitchen's skill. La Crispeta is a must-visit for anyone seeking expertly prepared Spanish cuisine, attentive service, and a wonderfully relaxed environment...
Read moreA very stressed out waiter who yelled out what we had ordered and looked very upset when we didn't choose the right plate right away.
Also; I ordered spagetti from the kids menu, the waiter looked upset when I did, but didn't say anything. It cost 8 euro in the meny, but they charged me 12 euro. I asked why, and he said they had to make it into a bigger portion. It was a very small portion (I rolled my fork around 5 times) with nothing meat. I am very dissapointed with the size and taste, and was still very hungry afterwards.
The rest of the group was satisfied with their meals, so I upgrade from 1 star to 2 star.
Answer back to owner: Pretty wild of you to write that I'm making several fake profiles with the rest of my party only to give you bad rating, instead of just owning up to what I gave you for feedback (which is the meaning with this app). Everything I wrote is true from my perspective. You said someone told me everything about the spaghetti before I got it? This is false, you must have me confused with someone else. If someone had told me that would I have taken the cesar salad instead. Because of this outrageos comeback it's a one star...
Read moreA tourist trap that doesn't sting. We grudgingly went there on a Monday night because many other places were closed, and the reviews, by and large, were not completely off-putting. The moment you step into "La Crispeta", it is obvious, however, that you're in a restaurant run primarily to wedge through as much as (foreign) tourists as possible: paper table cloths; scuffed & easy-to-grasp menu; elevated but accessible prices. The manners of the waiters, who quickly fill your glass, were reminiscent of, say, bouncers. The wine was palatable, and then freshly heated-up bread roll with olive oil quickly worked its magic. The rest of the tapas were solid fare (8/10), but that view may be skewed because we mainly ordered the most expensive item on the menu, pulpo/octopus (€18), which did not disappoint. The atmosphere is not such that invites to linger. So after the bottle of vino tinto was finished, we quickly declined the 'waiters' repeated offers to freshen up the glass and had ice cream for dessert elsewhere.
Also on the plus side: toilets were...
