Wanted to like it but I think they may be racist :(((( we went first time and were turned away because we didn't have a reservation, even though most tables were open inside and all were open outside. Went back with a reservation, and were put at table right by the door. A family of four walked in, said "no reservation," and were taken further back to a much nicer table. Because one of my kids had a sore throat, I asked the hostess if we could plesse be seated further back in the restaurant (it had just opened and 95% of tables were still open) and she said no, they are all reserved. When we told her We Too had reservations and perhaps another later party could take the door table, she said "don't tell me how to do my job." At this point I was quite upset since I felt we were being treated badly in front of other clients as well as my own children, so I said politely but firmly, we cannot accept this table, we have a reservation, and you just seated another family at a much nicer location even though they didn't have a reservation so I would appreciate a better table. To which, she said "they have a reservation." I immediately spoke back to her in fluent Spanish, saying "I know Spanish, they just spoke to you and said they did not, and you said I will have a look, then took them to their table." Once she realized she was caught out, she did not apologize but just plopped our menus down on a different table and essentially implied we should go seat ourselves there without even taking us to the new table. At this point obviously we realized we were not going to receive good service so we left. We have traveled to over six countries in just the past year, are frequent travelers and I have never experienced such rudeness. It is a shame because the rest of alicante is absolutely warm, friendly and inviting! For what it's worth, we are a mixed race family of four, half German, half indian. Please consider another vegetarian...
Read moreWe turned up on spec on Tuesday afternoon and were told it was fully booked although it looked empty. We were shown a lot of bookings.
My wife is more forgiving than me and it's her treat to visit a specialist vegetarian. The menu looks very interesting and not too expensive, also it looks an attractive place so worthy of a second look.
We got in on spec on Thursday afternoon and liked the composition of the Buddha Bowl daily special. The cheery waiter needed a double check we wanted two and I imagined it might be very large with several plates in a tapas style to fill the bowls.
He next appeared with 2 jars of green liquid and I was amazed to learn they were ours. It was very nice and nothing like the cabbage taste I expected.
We'd also received 2 beers which we discovered were orange flavoured and 7%. It was very good but unnecessary with the green drink, and rather alcoholic especially for my wife.
Next came the 2 Buddha Bowls and it was just how we like food to be. Nicely presented with a wide selection of ingredients, cooked just right. Not oily. Not particularly large either.
The restaurant is nicely decorated and furnished. The staff were friendly and cheerful. There's outside seating as well as inside. We'll...
Read moreWell, I know there are lots of good reviews here... maybe we just got an off night! My wife and I dropped in for dinner early in the evening and because we didn't have a reservation the waiter seemed very unwilling to find us a table. Eventually he did and when I asked what time it was reserved for he told me 10pm...in 2 hours. Plenty of time for us to eat. During our whole time here the service just seemed very unfriendly... my wife suggested that maybe we were dressed too casually as the 'dressed for dinner' customers seemed to be getting very good service! The food was OK. My wife's wrap was delicious. My Tex mex salad was bland without any Tex Mex flavour at all. The food came quickly which was a plus. The only time we got a smile from our waiter was as we left. It's a shame because everything else about this place is good... the decor is very nice. Like I said, maybe they were just having...
