Travelled from our villa in Villamartin, arrived in Alicante, one of our favourite places to visit. Checked into a great apartment on SoHo Plaza. Had a lovely day wandering around the old town, feeling chilled. We arrived this restaurant at 8.45, met by a pleasant young man who spoke excellent English with a slight American accent. We were given menus and ordered drinks, the drinks arrived and we ordered our meals. 40 minutes later we had finished our drinks but still no food. Being chilled we were not too stressed about the delay with the food. We asked a passing waiter for another round of drinks, he said OK. He returned a couple of minutes later and said "sorry you are too late for drinks we are closing". We were shocked to say the least. What happened to our food...the waiters English was not good but no explanation. I approached the origin waiter who spoke excellent English and asked him what had happened, blank look, no explanation, slight shrug of the shoulders? I was fuming, paid and left. I know this is not the end of the world, and mistakes happen along the way, but it is how mistakes are dealt with that separates the poor from the excellent, no sincere apology, no offer to comp the drinks, or offer of a discount tomorrow. Watch out if you're ordering from an old man - he is cheating, ordering more than you asked for! We clearly ordered 1 paella to split in half but we ended up getting, apparently 2 paellas and double price. It's impossible to know portion size, especially when it comes in 1 pan, so couldn't say anything at the time of receiving the order. We ate and left about 3rd of pan, as we were not that hungry and thought just it was a generous 1 portion. Until bill came when we realised getting 2 paellas in 1 pan. Shame on you! In other parts of Europe if something similar happened, at least would get a complimentary drink or desert if not money back. Here, nothing!

If they didn't clean our table quickly, would've taken left paella away to an homeless person which are many in the city center.

Edit: huh, I just realised additional scam - pan y alioli cost 3eur! 2 tiny pieces of baguette and garlic mayonaise only. We didn't order that! It came immediately to the table and we thought what a nice little aperitif from the restaurant, as a gratis, you know, like in many Eastern European or Turkish restaurants. Haha what a joke...

Worst food in whole Spain!!! Even worse owner👎🏻 We ordered a burger from a very reluctant waitress who didn't even speak English. After 30 minutes, we got a raw burger. We told it to the waitress and she said just “ok”, nothing else. After 15 minutes we got the same burger back. The cook just took out the meat and heated it. They didn't even put a new bun or vegetables. As you can see in the photo. THEY LEFT US THE LEFTOVERS SPREAD OUT ON THE PLATE. DISGUSTING!!! I ask the waitress if it’s joke (surprisingly she didn’t understand). The owner also didn’t understand. But that’s still not the worst part. We want to settle and told them that we’ll pay for drinks and french fries (at least one day old). But they didn’t accept it and want money for the burger. After 15 minutes of discussion the owner told us that she’ll call the police if we wouldn’t pay the leftovers (burger). If you don’t want problems and eat disgusting food, don’t go to this restaurant!!! I swear I never had such a bad experience like this in...
