Cafetería Alicante, "Canalejas Terraza" — Restaurant in Alicante

Genuinely one of the worst experiences I have ever had.

Waitress came to take the order (three drinks, three pieces of food), couldn't remember it (no pad), read it back and got it wrong. Came back with her phone to type it (had phone issues and it took forever). Lack of eye contact and pleasantness was noticeable.

Two other tables left owing to amount of time they waited to be served, one had to go up and order rather than wait for table service. Additionally, they had to ask for the table to be cleared of the leftovers of the people before them. Complete inability to deal with tables in the correct order.

We ordered three things (chicken nuggets, sandwich mixto, tortilla de patata) and the sandwich mixto was forgotten. We were then informed that they were out of sandwich mixtos (unclear if they were out of bread, ham or cheese). Decided not to bother ordering something else and just leave, which took a while as the waitress seemingly couldn't work the credit card machine.

Other cafes in Alicante will be far more deserving, and welcoming, of your customer. Lack of contrition for their mistakes was staggering. Only reason it gets one star is the zero star option isn't...

The " Canalejas" is uniquely situated within the park , not only for it's majestic situation (directly in front of the statue José Canalejas, the president of Spain till his assassination 1912) but also in front one of the greatest architectural building, namely La Casa Alberola, by the architect José Guardiola Picó of the time (nor surprisingly now, a magnificent hotel under management by the Hilton chain). Given these majestic surroundings and historical portent, the following:

Excellent service in at least three languages, which should suffice any educated person.

The most delicious freshly made crepés with an outstanding list of 'toppings'. Do try fresh strawberries in season .

Simple 'tapas' , yes that's a snack not a plateful .( Be aware their chips n cheese is plentiful for a 'teen, as are other dishes!)

Excellent coffee, in any variety of your choosing .

Price? Sitting in front of the most excellent architecture that survived the Civil war, in the center of the city, is appropriate.

(I have seen some seriously deplorable if not defamatory reviews of this establishment, aged and recent).

Service is friendly with a smile, I and my family have been going there for years.

A wonderful place, knee deep in history , well worth visiting.

Now they have finished "remodelling" the whole street, they also finished this beautiful square, certainly not the cafe's fault they chose tiles and removed flowers..

Service remains impeccable and always with a smile, after years of remodelling the streets around them, they survived! ....

"Canalejas" tiene una ubicación única dentro del parque, no sólo por su majestuosa situación (directamente frente a la estatua de José Canalejas, presidente de España hasta su asesinato en 1912), sino también frente a uno de los edificios arquitectónicos más importantes, a saber, La Casa. Alberola, del arquitecto José Guardiola Picó de la época (y no en vano ahora, un magnífico hotel gestionado por la cadena Hilton). Dado este majestuoso entorno y portento histórico, lo siguiente:

Excelente servicio en al menos tres idiomas, lo que debería ser suficiente para cualquier persona educada.

Los crepés más deliciosos recién hechos y con una destacada lista de 'toppings'. Pruebe las fresas frescas de temporada.

'Tapas' simples, sí, eso es un refrigerio, no un plato. (¡Tenga en cuenta que sus patatas fritas con queso son abundantes para un adolescente, al igual que otros platos!)

Excelente café, en cualquier variedad de su elección.

¿Precio? Sentarse frente a la arquitectura más excelente que sobrevivió a la Guerra Civil, en el centro de la ciudad, es apropiado.

(He visto algunas críticas seriamente deplorables, si no difamatorias, sobre este establecimiento, antiguas y recientes).

El servicio es amable con una sonrisa, mi familia y yo hemos ido allí durante años.

Un lugar maravilloso, lleno de historia, que vale la pena visitar.

Ahora terminaron de "remodelar" toda la calle, también terminaron esta hermosa plaza, ciertamente no es culpa del café, eligieron azulejos y quitaron flores.

El servicio sigue siendo impecable y siempre con una sonrisa, después de años de remodelación de las calles a su alrededor,...

Very unpolite service and poor quality of food. Ordered waffle with fruits. When this one came, the fruits were not there. Ok, mistakes can happen. When I pointed this out to the server, he took the waffle back and brought it back to the bar, no further comment. There it was standing and nobody was occupied with it. The server was busy with other jobs.... After 15 min we took ourself the waffle back from the bar. The waffle was very poor quality. Also the added options are full of sugar and not eatable.(too much chocolate paste on it). The ordered two waffles and one pancake was eaten only half. After all no sorry could be said, despite the server had seen that we took ourself the waffle back. So in general very unpolite service and poor quality. Never go...
