Ok so, read reviews on Trip Advisor and decided to take my wife for dinner there. Food was good and tasty but the whole experience was ruined when the staff allowed two beggers into the restaurant. Of which one had stolen my wifes phone from her table. The split second of noticing we gave chase only to realise these beggers dumped feaces in front of the restaurant front door floor to slow us down. Considering we were sitting right at the back of the restaurant and the restaurant being a little quiet we thought it was a safe establishment eg: slim chance of pick pockets and being harassed. The restaurant staff were useless, offered no sympathy and just seemed to grin in bemusement. My wife is also british chinese and asked why the heck they let them in. We paid the bill (not expecting any compensation but neither was it offered) and left. I doubt its the first time this has happened so beware, especially to fellow chinese tourists. Two stars is me...
Read moreThe waitress was fantastic with my son (hence the two stars and not one) but the owners were less than impressive with my complaint about the food experience.
I went to Unik as my son was after some noodles to eat. I ordered him some noodles, spring rolls and I got some tempura maki for myself. The food arrived quite quickly and the noodles seemed to go down well with my son although they were extremely oily. The spring rolls were tiny and not overly tasty. The sushi rolls were appalling. The taste of burnt old oil lingered on my palate for 12 hours. I explained to the owner that I didn’t enjoy the two makis I had eaten out of the portion and she said they were fine with a smirk and said the fish was fresh in today. I explained it was not the fish but the oil and later they were cleared away without a care. Suffice to say they remained on my bill. I will not return here nor would I recommend the food to anyone looking for an authentic...
Read moreThe dining experience at the restaurant was overall mixed. The ambiance rated a 2/5 due to the dining room smelling slightly of food, with worn-out walls and a broken chair, but it met basic expectations. Service was excellent, earning a 4/5; the staff were very quick, spoke English, and packed leftover food for us. The food itself was very good, also rating a 4/5. The sushi was fresh, although I missed having soy sauce on the table. Pricing was very affordable, deserving a 4/5, with items like fried noodles with vegetables priced at just $2.95. The menu selection scored a 3/5; while there was a lot of variety, some typical Asian dishes were missing, and most noodle and rice dishes were made with shrimp instead of...
