BEWARE - they’ll rip you off. Don’t go here, and if for some reason you find yourself here, don’t trust them and check the prices.

Stopped here for dinner. We (2 pax) asked for the waiter’s recommendation - he produced a fish (mullet?) from the fridge and cooked it half fried half grilled. It was pretty decent although it was served with large chunks of (undercooked) fish head, which was a bit odd. Perhaps to pad out the weight?

Then the bill comes - €100 for that single fish alone. For two! In Almería! I wasn’t born yesterday. Of course he insists that’s how much it costs and points to a line somewhere in the middle of the menu and claims the fish weighed 2 kg, etc. A lot of arguing ensues and he ends up taking €20 off the bill, after the Spanish table next to us intervened to help us.

I’m sure he’ll comment below insisting I’m lying, I robbed them, that was how much the fish was worth, etc etc, because he’s a cantankerous and rather aggressive fellow. But it was plain as day to us and the others in the restaurant what...

We came back because the first two times we came it was so good. Tonight the cod was cold and I had to send it back. I ordered the cod tapas in tomato sauce but was served and charged for one racion. More food than I wanted. Service was abrupt, not very friendly, didn't want to waste time with questions, basically dropped plates of food on the table and ran away. Wine glasses slammed on the table like I was trying to kill a bug. All very surprising because the owner was here. Well, two out of three gets a 66% rating. Was going to have some dessert but skipped it. Disappointed today. Might try somewhere else next time I'm in Almeria.

Volvimos porque las dos primeras veces que vinimos estaba muy bueno. Esta noche el bacalao estaba frío y tuve que devolverlo. Pedí las tapas de bacalao en salsa de tomate, pero me sirvieron y me cobraron una ración. Más comida de la que quería. El servicio fue brusco, no muy amable, no quería perder el tiempo con preguntas, básicamente dejó caer los platos de comida al suelo y salió corriendo. Las copas de vino se estrellaron contra la mesa como si estuviera tratando de matar un insecto. Todo muy sorprendente porque el dueño estaba aquí. Bueno, dos de tres obtiene una calificación de 66%. Iba a tomar algo de postre, pero lo salté. Hoy decepcionado. Puede que pruebe en otro lugar la próxima vez que vaya a Almería.

Nice cozy family run locals place. Owners, older couple, is almost always there and if he's not there is a senior waiter who has worked there a very long time and might be related to the owners. My entrecot was a very nice cut of meat prepared to perfect medium as requested. Only negative on tonight's meal was the grilled eggplant which was under cooked and tasted of fish. Didn't eat all the fishy eggplant. Otherwise it was a very nice meal in a nice friendly family run restaurant. Menu is available in English and at least one waiter spoke English. Didn't take any photos... didn't see a reason too.

Bonito y acogedor lugar familiar para los lugareños. Los propietarios, una pareja mayor, casi siempre están allí y, si no lo está, hay un camarero senior que ha trabajado allí durante mucho tiempo y podría estar relacionado con los propietarios. Mi entrecot era un muy buen corte de carne preparado al medio perfecto según lo solicitado. Lo único negativo en la comida de esta noche fue la berenjena a la parrilla que estaba poco cocinada y sabía a pescado. No comí toda la berenjena a pescado. De lo contrario, fue una muy buena comida en un agradable restaurante familiar. El menú está disponible en inglés y al menos un camarero...

I don’t recommend this place to foreigners.

The food was very good but zero transparency about its price. I ordered a ration gallopedro (24€) and they said that that they didn’t have but instead they had something similar ‘gallineta’ without mentionning the price. I expected a similar price and they served me a 60€ fish and its head at 30€, so a total of 90€ instead of 24€. The food was good but I didn’t intend to eat luxury fish that evening.

It wasn’t a misunderstanding as my Spanish husband took the order. So the language is not the excuse, they just saw foreigners and took the opportunity to make us spend 150€ for 4 people when you can in much cheaper places in this city (and for a very...
