Initially I was going to mark this a 4 star, but no that would be wrong. This is definitely a 5 star experience and so worth the visit. We ate here twice, first was for Sunday Roast and second was for dinner. The Sunday Dinner was such a treat. We sat down, not completely hungry, already have had a late breakfast. We had prawn cocktail starter to begin with. Honestly this was the first place that hadn't over cooked the prawns. They were juicy and cooked tenderly. But it was so light and and the dressing very refreshing. The Roast was so flavoursome. The stuffing crust was a little on the dry side, it was rolled into a big ball that was perhaps too big, making cooking longer. Still good. The gravy was great along with the Yorkshire pudding and red cabbage. The veg was also cooked well. The Roast potatoes were perfectly roasted (not deep fat fried). However the Beef was a little on the raw side. Now this is a personal taste, I liked it, but know many would not like it so bloody. My wife did find it a little to raw for her, and I do agree, nonetheless we both loved the meal. Sadly, as I said we had big eyes, and breakfast had not gone down yet. So both my wife and I left a lot still on our plate. The restaurant took this as a sign that we didn't enjoy our meal. This couldn't be further from the truth. But to their credit they took my wife's meal off the bill. I wish they had not, a gesture we were appreciate of, but was not any ones fault. So we felt guilty over that.
The second time, a few days later, was for dinner. Of course the staff recognised us and I noticed the chef? Half way through served us personally. I do understand the reason, and felt somewhat guilty over the misunderstanding. This time we had the la carte menu the scallops and Lamb wellington, and the prawns followed by the pork crackling. For the starters, the Scallops and the Prawns. The scallops were sous-vide or steamed, a little bland, delicious but I thought was strange. Normally it's shallow fried, and you get that bite juicy taste. Maybe that was the style in Spain? Still liked it though. The Prawns were cooked well and mouth-watering. The mains, lamb wellington and Pork scratching, was really good. I really enjoyed the wellington and gravy, I had my eye on it since I spotted since the last visit. The Pork was tender, the Crackling was perfectly crispy. The best cooked I have ever seen, which not an easy thing to do. All dishes here were beautiful presented and the restaurant staff are very friendly. I highly recommend this place and the Sunday Roast is so wholesome. But do recommend asking about the rawness, if that's not your thing maybe mention...
Read moreUpdated review: We visited Hopscotch again a year after our first visit. The location has changed to just over the road from the previous premises. We were a walk in and accommodated with the restaurant about 1/3 full.
Initially service was quick, a few of the med items were off the menu and they appeared to have tried to put tape over these to blank them out but just caused the menu pages to stick together.
Decided on the duck parcels to start these were OK but were quite miserly on the amount of filling. Main course was fillet steak, a really nice cut of beef and enjoyed this, my daughter had Mac and cheese. It should have come with a warning as my daughter touched the bowl and burnt her fingers. Service really dropped off at this point, had to chase for drinks despite there now being only 3 tables in inc us. The waiting staff seemed more concerned with resetting the tables for the next day and charting to friends at the bar. We eventually gave up ordering desert, paid the bill and left.
It's a shame as the food here is really good and the chef is clearly talented. The service let the place down on our last visit and still isn't good enough. The prices are at the top end and the service needs to match this, being really picky chips in glasses and crockery aren't up to standard either.
Visited towards the end of our stay. Will say the food was 5 star, very well presented and really tasty. The service let the overall experience down, maybe the waitress was having a bad day as it wasn't busy. Waited for menus for a while then drinks, wasn't told on delivery of the menus what was off the menu-I got down to my 4th choice of the Duck but it was excellent. Service generally slow throughout had to go and ask for and pay the bill at the bar.
This is our second 2 week visit to the area in the last 12 months and the food is up there with the best and we've tried a lot of restaurants...
Read moreWe booked a table for 10 on Friday 19th May 2023, 8 adults and two children 11 and 2 for my daughter and son in laws 30th birthdays. w We were welcomed at the door by Carlos who was friendly without being intrusive, drinks were ordered and came in good time then food orders taken...fillet steak on a kids menu wow my 2 year old granddaughter loved it, the 11 year old had fish and chips and was amazed ... my dish was a morroccan tagine of local Goat which was amazing .. but the dish of the night was the Lamb Wellington OMG everyone was envious, saying that everyones mai s were excellent. We ordered red wine and decided on the Merlot at €25.50 a bottle oh what a good choice this wine was amazing..so smooth but dangerously drinkable 4 bottles later. And a white sauvignon blanc Which went so well with my scallops. All in all we had an amazing night and even though we were all inclusive in our hotel everyone said if we had found it earlier we would have revisited (with prior notice to get more wellingtons.. lol). The Total bill was €440 for 9 adult meals and 1 kids meal included in this was €113 of wine, and the first round for 10 people.. so whilst it looks expensive at € 40-50 this did include nearly €200 of drinks, when we finished carlos poured each of us a shot of liqueur and even brought non alcoholic ones for the kids, super service. We gave a decent tip as we had thoroughly enjoyed the night, the background music the service and the ambiance, if we return to calleta de fuste fuerteventura, Hopscotch will be my first booking after we land.
Carlos you and your restaurant are excellent...
