Wild West Steak House — Restaurant in Antigua

This place needs to change its staff, and by the forums on Facebook and the negative reviews here it’s quite clear the staff are absolutely terrible.

We walked past and thought we would stop in for a bite to eat before heading home, Sat down and it was like we was an inconvenience to them being there. (You’d think they need the money since the county has taken a hit since covid) The waiter came over plonked menus on the table and said almost straight away asked what we wanted, we gave him our drinks order and he said “food” we said can we get a minute to look at the menu, he came back took the order and the food arrived. I’m all fairness the food was lovely and very hot. That I can’t complain about. Anyway we had noticed that he had gone to every other table a few times, laughed and joked with the customers but didn’t to us, we found it very uncomfortable, we asked for more drinks and it seemed like it was too much trouble. We asked for the bill, not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES. He just kept on clearing tables and attending other customers. He eventually gave the bill, well say give basically threw it on the table from a few feet away. We got angry by this point and wanted to get out as it was just not a nice environment to be in. We waited a while for him to come back to get the card to pay, but he didn’t come back, we went to the bar to pay and the lady just pointed at the waiter to pay, we said we have waited and he has just ignored us, she got his attention and we said can we pay by card, he grabbed the card machine and just shoved it in our face and rolled his eyes at us, we tapped the card and left. We have never had any experience like this on the island ever, this is a shame and we have been there before to that restaurant and never had this experience, I will never EVER go to this place again,

Well where do I begin, if I could give a minus rating then I would. We decided to pop into this place for lunch and sat down and was attended by a waiter we ordered 2 LG beers and 2 mushroom omelettes. As we ordered I noticed how busy it was getting and felt lucky we had placed our order (what a mistake that was). Warm beer and condiments were placed on our table, at that point the waiter confirmed our order with us which made it strange as to why he had to confirm something that we had already placed. 45 minutes later and seeing everyone who came in after us start or finish their food I complained and asked to pay for the warm beers, I challenged the reason why our food was still waiting to another waitress who tried to apologise and asked the waiter who served us where it was. At this point he looked at us in disgust and shrugged his shoulders he didn't even try to apologise. Now I can handle a mistake but ignorance is not acceptable. Help me understand why you employ such arrogant staff who don't care and look at you in disgust. I visit calleta many times and needless to say I won't come back to this place again. Headlines POOR SERVICE combined with ARROGANT STAFF equals a RESTAURANT that won't last long. IS THIS MEMBER OF STAFF GOING TO GIVE ME BACK THE 60 MINUTES OF MY LIFE WASTED SAT AT THE TABLE. Unsure how this awful establishment has any reviews above one star to be honest. We should have known better than to eat here after walking past on our first night and watching one of the chef’s make strange chicken noises to a couple of tourists walking away from the restaurant, which we already thought was very odd and looked clear to be making fun of them. The “Tex Mex” noted on the menu should have put us off too… Anyway, I ordered “fresh fish of the island” and what I received was the furthest thing from this. They actually ended up serving me the “grilled fish” instead (listed on our bill) which was clearly frozen and completely unseasoned. I love my seafood, but this was honestly some of the worst fish I’ve ever had. Extremely rubbery, and 100% not fresh. Waiters were rude and we got served the wrong dish twice, and when we explained to them about it, they acted as if WE were in the wrong.

Honestly, if you can then please just avoid this absolute tourist trap. They do not rely on repeat custom clearly, and just serve frozen bulk food, whilst providing terrible service. The worst thing about it is that we were charged €54 for such a terrible dining experience, meanwhile Fado Steakhouse around the the corner was €40 and was absolutely sensational.
