Sometimes in Caleta de Fuste Fuerteventura service is slow and lost in translation. But El Patio staff are very friendly and speak very good English. And the toliets are clean and smell good, which can be and issue in the local restaurants. They had a Duo Band provide live singing. Which was nice to listen to as we ate. It's not something you normally see in a restaurant but nice touch nonetheless. We had some great dishes here and really stuffed ourselves. It can be too easy to order a starter and mains without thinking. I had really been looking forward to a good paella. But never realised every restaurant, either were not serving that day and there was a minimum of 2 people. Bless El Patio, as when I mentioned it they graciously would do a single portion. Well I say graciously, my belly didn't thank me afterwards. For our starters we had the Sauteed Tuna and the Avocado Tartar with Mango coulie. Both nice dishes, and I would have them again. Though I wasn't fond of the Avocado Tartar, it just wasn't visually appealing to me. (Oh it's completely vegetarian, no mince meat. Just the flavouring.) And my dish, fantastic as it was, the Sauteed Tuna, tasted a little under seasoned. For the mains I got the Meat Paella. I wish I had the seafood one, but was swayed by previous reviews and went meat. Anyway next time. A single portion is big, and the meat and rice was cooked to perfection. I really enjoyed it but stuffed myself silly. My Wife tried the Lamb with Oporto, a red wine sauce? And I must admit the Lamb was very surprising delicious, the sauce especially went well... being soaked up by the chips. Of course we couldn't manage desserts, but the local sangria and larger more than made up for it. The sangria is some what of a local speciality, and El Patio impressed, described as nice and strong by my wife. There are so many other things on the menu I would like to try, so next time. Just need to think of...
Read moreMy partner and I went there for my 50th birthday and wasn't disappointed. The waiters were very polite and helpful with choices on the menu. For starters my partner has breaded camembert and a homemade apple jam which complement each other. For my starter( which was more like a main meal) was a combination of prawns, avocado, Apple and pineapple with two sauces, I was a little unsure at first but it was delicious and refreshing. Then comes the main!!! My partner ordered swordfish and it came with mojo poatoes and vegetables and looked and tasted delicious. I ordered the rib eye steak(medium rare) and when it arrived O. M. G. it must have weighed over a kilo server on a griddle pan and on a separate play there was tried saute potatoes rice and roasted vegetable and cooked to perfection. For dessert I had a trio of ice creams which all had a little surprise at the bottom, my partner had a raspberry cheesecake which came with cream, raspberry sorbet and a chocolate cigar. To finish our meal as we thought we had honey rum coffees (advice don't drink this and think of driving lol) lots of honey rum and delicious. We asked for the bill and we then received a bottle with a Bailey's looking liquor and 2 small spoons with cream and a chocolate looking square when eating the square and you bite into it you find out that it is an ice cream mint and the liquor is a Bailey's type drink made in Lad Palmas but more smoother than Bailey's. The whole meal cost €97 (about £40 each) Well...
Read moreThis might be the wrong way to start a review but bear with me. We have avoided going to El Patio because a few years ago my wife was very ill following a visit there. To be totally fair, it may not have had anything to do with the restaurant, but could have been too much sun or too much alcohol. Nevertheless its one of those this that just puts you off.
But this year we want to try somewhere new, and boy, I'm so glad we did. Unlike Fado Rock (next-door), this is a lot more relaxed, with seating either outside, on the enclosed Patio, a good place to people watch, or inside listening to the relaxed tones of their resident guitarist.
Glass of wine on entering. Nice touch. The menu is way above some of the other restaurant, without being stupidly expensive. The food is really nicely presented and tastes great. This could well become my new favorite restaurant. Staff are friendly and efficient. All in all a great place to eat.
The only one complaint I've got, and this is not so much the restaurant's fault, are the gits who once they finish their own meal, feel its acceptable to straightaway light up a cigarette, with no regard to others still eating around them. Its just ignorant.
Anyway, apart from that, go there....
