A modern, nice looking restaurant, but sadly, not the service to match. Fairly shortly after we arrived, we were asked whether we wanted drinks. We chose red wine, which was brought to us quickly and it was of good quality.
We waited around 20 minutes before anyone came back to take our food order.
I asked the waiter what accompanied the main meal, I was told that it was potatoes and vegetables.
After the order we waited about 40 minutes, but the meal had still not arrived. So, I alerted the lady behind the counter. After a further 10 minutes, the meal arrived. I had the spicy prawns, which were prawns in their shells. The sauce had a salty fishy taste, which was pleasant, but it was not spicy, as the menu indicated. No vegetables were served.
The other dish was chicken in sauce (honey and mustard sauce). The chicken came in batter. The sauce had no flavour apart from sweetness; no mustard could be detected. The chicken was placed atop a line of small potato cubes. The menu states "baked potatoes". In the UK when we use this term we think of whole potatoes baked in their skins. These were small diced potato pieces, probably baked in this form in the oven. Both the sauce and the potatoes were disappointing. The meal itself seemed more like a large starter and was luke warm.
The Trevigiana Salad I ordered was, in my opinion, over-priced. It was supposed to have chicory leaf, peach and spring onion included, but none was present. Instead, pear and white onion were included. The dressing for the salad was not prepared for us, instead, we were given small cartons of olive oil and vinaigrette (those type of cartons in which you may find butter and jam at cafés).
We complained about some of the above points, received an apology, but the bill was not adjusted.
A complimentary liqueur drink was served to us after the meal, which is what other restaurants in this locale tend to do.
Overall, a very disappointing experience. Not the sort of start a new restaurant would want to make.
Some anecdotal information: the couple sitting next to us said that their meal was just OK, their portion of lasagne was small, their potatoes were not as described and they were served late (not with their...
Read moreDon't normally do reviews but feel it's necessary this time.Been to this restaurant a good few times over the past 3 yrs. The first time a few yrs ago me and my wife both ordered Beef stroganoff and it was excellent in that it looked and tasted like beef stroganoff and the beef was tender like it should be, served on a plate altogether like it should be. Then a week later went back to have the same again only for it to be cooked differently, beef a bit chewy, stroganoff sauce looked and tasted more like a stew etc but was ok to a degree. A year later ( last year ) gave it another try hoping it would be as good as the first time, unfortunately it wasn't and again it had turned into more of a stewed beef dish served in a kind of pastry a bit like eating a steak pie and althoughit still tasted ok, it wasn't anything like beef stroganoff. Wanted a good beef stroganoff this year so gave it one last chance, this time it was nothing like stroganoff, beef was chewy, the sauce with it was like the juice/fat you get from boiling/roasting a joint which as we all know is good for making gravy but nothing else, some of the rice was hard and to make it impossible to eat it altogether they put the beef and sauce in a separate dish so you create a mess trying to put it all on one plate. It's a shame as I like everything else about this restaurant but it's not a difficult dish to make and it should be instantly recognisable by the smell and look of the sauce no matter where in the world you order it. I don't know if the change is down to cost cutting or the lack of a good chef. Unfortunately they have lost my business as I've given it enough chances...
Read moreLet’s start with the pros first; nice atmosphere, very friendly staff and good house wine.
The cons… The first waitress had very little understanding of what drinks we asked for (we ordered a glass of the house wine & a vodka with sprite) which was odd considering the area is such a tourist hotspot and a second waitress had to come back to us to double check the order. Bit of a rocky start but was sorted quickly.
Next, the starters (Italian sausage and garlic prawns with mushrooms) were bland and rather basic. We also had to wait quite a bit for them to be brought out. About 10 minutes into our starters, our main courses were brought out with nowhere to leave them on the table as we hadn’t finished our starters yet, which is something we’ve never experienced before in any restaurant ever! Our main course were pizzas and they weren’t too bad but the dough was not fully cooked in parts.
Overall a bit pricey considering the quality of the food we ordered. Although the staff were very pleasant and polite, we feel they were scattered and had a difficult time coping with the amount of people dining in the restaurant at the time.
This is a nice restaurant with potential but a lot of room for...
