The Cave - Lounge Cafe — Restaurant in Antigua

Been coming to this bar every year since it opened my family & my self have always chatted to the owner on every visit. This year myself my wife & my daughter popped in for our usual drinks on NYE went to the bar asked for several drinks to be told don’t have them so asked for two Vodka lemonades, Obviously we only visit this bar on holiday so we totally forgot it’s cash only now in this modern world we don’t carry cash intact we don’t even carry cards and leave them in the safe at the hotel room and always use our phones to pay & never had a problem. Anyways after the drinks where poured ( cheep nasty local vodka ) I saw the tiny sign saying cash only so I explained to the owner that I didn’t have any cash he said drink the drinks and get cash, now we didnt feel comfortable with this so me and my daughter sat down whilst my wife went to the cash machine to see if it was a contactless machine ( some on the island are ) and it wasn’t so we took the drinks back to the bar ( untouched ) and apologised the best we could and tried to explain that we couldn’t take the drinks due to no cash but would bring the money in tomorrow for the wasted drinks so he wasn’t out of pocket …

The owner was not understanding at all boarder line aggressive and began to act like a Wally in front of my wife and family.

As a family who travels to this island 2/3 times a year every year we must spend around £400/500 a year In this bar & although I totally understand a small bar wanting to use cash only the behaviour and attitude of the owner in this situation was completely out of order & could of been handles in a professional manner. This was a genuine mistake and as a result of this mans behaviour we will no longer spend another penny...

To be honest, if I wouldn't see Google recommendations before I wouldn't came in. Place looks like bar/pub i wouldn't expect food. Food to be so good! OMG, how amazing place it is. I think that we were served by owner, very nice guy. We ordered drinks and pizzas... I ordered Fuerteventura pizza and my partner meaty pizza. Both amazing. Thin dough, full of toppings with good quality goat cheese, ham and oregano on the top. Probably the best pizza I had in a very long time. Strong minty mojito, generous with rum. I really recommend that place. We will definitely come back to try lasagne that owner recommended. Prices VERY OK. Cash only

Initially popped in for a beer as they have a happy hour, saw the amazing food and decided to go back the next evening (note we are all inclusive so didn’t need to pay for food but couldn’t resist) Me and wife enjoyed a pizza each, The base was to die for, thin crispy and cooked to perfection. Place ran by Italians so you get Italian flavours and vibe. We finished off we a crep which also was amazing. Nice people great food friendly atmosphere! 100% recommend. Best pizza in area for sure!
