Decided to give the giddy goose a go and wish we hadn't. First the positives. Our server from Ireland was really polite and friendly and good customer service, Chatting away. Negatives. Food was really poor. The Hot Chilli Con Carne which I was warned was Hot, Chilli was full of spices too much to try and make it hot which it wasn't but the spices blocked the flavour and made it tasteless, it was edible I was starving and ate it Famous fish and Chips, Nothing famous about it, My wife didn't finish it as bland. Potatoes had a weird taste like they were frozen and heated up.
I went to pay which was priced above average only to be told thee was no card machine. In which when I enquired could he not afford one, gave me the whole story about fees in which I said he should have told us. He said it was on the menu as the bottom in small font.
Then had the audacity to say noone else complains about no card which is untrue as these reviews are full of it. Had to walk to an ATM to get cash.
Safe to say I won't be back. Should have heeded the warning signs when we were the only...
Read moreBeen here twice as a family of 6, the first time for drinks and the second visit was for food and drinks. The staff were British, very welcoming and polite. The drinks were refreshing, cold and served with a fitting giddy smile.
The food was nice too; -The SAUSAGE, MASH, MUSHY PEAS AND GRAVY was filling, the sausages were soft and blended well with the gravy, mash and peas. Do note however the mash and peas are microwaved, but it was still enjoyable overall and the presentation was impressive.
-The SUNDAY ROAST BEEF wasn't to our tastes but that was likely down to personal taste, everything else was delicious including the large Yorkshire pudding!
-The STEAK PUDDING was amazing, tender pieces of meat and enough gravy to please most of the North. Top notch choice.
-The CHICKEN GOUJONS could easily be mistaken for fish given the size and batter, and they didn't disappoint. Big succulent pieces of chicken coated in beer batter cannot be beaten. Complimented nicely by sides.
Oh and the name GIDDY GOOSE is great, it's my...

Avoid this place the fish is bland and undercooked. After all this the landlady of the pub still insisted that we payed the full price for the food, her customer service was as bad as their fish,...
