Adobo/Adobar — Restaurant in Barcelona

What a hidden gem. I had a doctor’s appointment near by and decided to treat myself after with a nice meal (a bit later than my usual so I knew the local spots would be open—later for me is 8 p.m.). The outdoor and indoor decor here is modern yet not pretentious and still comfy. Even though it was a bit chilly (for BCN standards), the outdoor seating was still warm and cozy. I opted for indoors and was pleasantly surprise with a comfy table for one.

I had a lovely glass of Ribera del duero (which the woman helping me recommended) and then I took her advice and ordered the salchicha with a side of lechuga (without cebolla because I don’t like raw onion). It was fabulous. Probably the best sausage I’ve had. I also opted for the bread (without tomate) and I probably could have eaten that alone all night if I hadn’t loved the salchicha so much because it was also perfection. Llevaba tiempo queriendo probarlo, recuerdo que invirtieron en marketing en redes, hubo mucha publicidad. La primera impresión es buena porque el espacio desde fuera promete. Al entrar, el chico de la entrada nos recibe con un seco "¿tienen reserva?" mirando al suelo sin siquiera decir hola. Al responder con un "hola, sí" continuó con lo que estaba haciendo durante unos 15 segundos antes de pedirnos que lo acompañemos. Mal. Ya sentados, mirando alrededor, percibes la decoración, que se siente como un batiburrillo de elementos sin ton ni son. No obstante, el lugar es espacioso y resulta acogedor. Lo más importante, la comida: era meramente correcta, nada destacable ni sorprendente. Lo más rico fue el flan de postre, con diferencia. El resto de platos nos dejaron más bien indiferentes, más bien sencillos. Sobre todo, cuando apuestan por el formato de porciones minúsculas, se crea un efecto expectación que no se sacia. Si la comida es correcta sin más, poco elaborada, las porciones deberían ser mayores -es mi opinión. Cierto es que el precio es comedido para la zona en la que se encuentra, pero hubiéramos preferido pagar más si la comida nos hubiera sorprendido, o hubiéramos sentido que pagamos más justamente lo pagado si las porciones hubieran sido algo mayores. Podríamos haber pedido más platos pero sentimos que no...

First: great staff, really lovely people and the place is beautiful. In general overpriced for what we had. The food: the tortilla just wasn't a tortilla, was an omelette. Both meats were disappointing, the Solomillo (28€) was tiny and we had to add a side for 5€ more. The chicken was just pathetic: it really ruined the experience having a combusted dead pigeon spread on a humongous plate in front of us. Sure you want to be fancy,...
