Tired of the cold weather? 🥶 I am, for sure. 😭 We're in May and some years in May I've already been to the beach 🏖️ and into the sea 🌊. But this year it's raining 🌧️ basically every day in Barcelona! 😓 And the worst (😅) of this situation is that many ice cream parlors in Barcelona haven't opened yet! And the ones that are already open (or that never close) don't have their Summer schedule yet.. The other day, we had dinner out and wanted to have gelato somewhere else. And the only option we had on our way back home was Badini that I already visited a couple of years ago. They have a special cream 🍨 mixed with pistachio spread and the result is great but also kinda heavy. And that night I was feeling full so I went for sorbets, specifically kiwi 🥝 and pear 🍐. The kiwi one was noy bad but not too tasty, too sour and not sweet enough compared to the pear one that was, on the contrary, extra sweet. So I ate the kiwi one first then I ate the pear one. It was so sweet that I got tired before the end... 😔 I still finished it 😇 but I didn't really enjoy the end of the cup. Yeah, cause I got these sorbets in a cup because the place ran out of cones 🧇... how can this happen? 😳 It's like running out of salt 🧂 in a restaurant! The texture of the sorbet was nice and it didn't melt too fast (well, it was cold ❄️ outside so that was not too hard). 👍 The clerk who attended us was very nice (although I would have appreciated he informed me about the cones issue beforehand) and the place was still the same: spectacular for an ice cream parlor. We paid €4.5 for a medium cup (2 scoops), which is a standard price for BCN nowadays.

Read moreBadiani captures classic Florentine gelato without feeling like a tourist stop. I walked past the bright marble counter lined with stainless tubs and started sampling. The staff urged me to try their signature Buontalenti, a silky custard that tasted almost warm before it melted into cool sweetness. The peanut butter sample, nutty and just salty enough, ended up being my surprise favorite.
I landed on a cup of Buontalenti with salted caramel, the girls chose strawberry sorbet and mango, and each scoop was dense yet airy, full of true fruit or deep dairy flavor without any extra sweetness. A crisp wafer on top added the right bit of crunch to keep each bite interesting.
Service was patient and friendly, walking us through flavors and letting us linger over decisions even with a line behind us. Between the balanced sweetness, spot-on textures, and a modern room that still feels timeless, Badiani has earned a place on our Barcelona...

The gelatos were simply divine, offering a rich, creamy texture and an array of flavors that delighted the palate. The ham and cheese crepe was another highlight. It was expertly prepared, with the crepe itself being light and perfectly cooked. The combination of savory ham and melted cheese was incredibly satisfying, making it a perfect complement to the sweet gelatos.
