Bodega Neus — Restaurant in Barcelona

I don't know if my son is special... Well, I know he is, I 💙 him, he's the most special person to me, but I mean I don't know if other kids act like him... He obsesses with things he 💙. He sees a movie he 💙, he doesn't want to see any other, he 💙 a book, he doesn't want to read any other, you take him to eat a specific type of food and he likes the experience then he doesn't want to eat anything else... 🤷‍♂️ A few weeks ago I took him to eat tapas, just the 2 of us, so, a few days later, when I offered him to have lunch outside, instead of choosing sushi as I would normally do, he insisted on eating tapas again 🙃 I'm not the biggest fan of tapas anymore but, near our place, there's a small bodega called Bodega Neus, that looks very nice from the outside and that I had been wanting to try for a long time, so I jumped on the opportunity. The thing with my son and tapas is that the set of options we have is quite limited since he doesn't eat 🐟, 🌶️ nor certain things that are pretty common here, like 🫑... So, as always, we ordered some classics like bravas, bomba, "huevos rotos" (eggs, potatoes and ham). Plus I ordered a smoked sardine toast for me alone, which is what I enjoyed the most. The bravas were labelled "sweet potato brava" but were a mix of 🥔 and 🍠, which initially sounded like a nice idea but 🍠 is so much tastier than regular 🥔 that you end up not enjoying half the dish. Plus the sauce was very weak. The bomba arrived cold on the inside, like almost frozen. We returned it and they brought it back hot... but that shows that they do it in advance and they reheat them in a microwave instead of deep frying them again, and the result was not great 😔 The broken 🍳 were ok. When we left, we realized they forgot to bring us the ensaladilla we ordered. They didn't charge for it but my son still wants to go back to complain, weeks later 🤣 I paid about €30, which is not cheap for what we had (but not too expensive either).

Regrettably, our dining experience was marred by an untimely conclusion. At 23:00, well before we had completed our dessert, the staff informed us that it was time to close, depriving us of the opportunity to conclude our meal leisurely.

Bodega Neus feels like discovering a beloved local secret, and it absolutely lives up to the buzz. This cozy spot exudes warmth, charm, and authenticity.
