Cafè Pagès — Restaurant in Barcelona

I came to this bar because a local had criticized us for eating at touristy locations. Being a tourist, I felt the criticism was probably valid, so I went here (their suggestion). However, if this truly is a spot for locals, I feel bad for them

Only bonus from this restaurant is that my arms got a workout from waving to get the servers’ attention so much. I was getting a little chonky during my vacation, so this was appreciated

For the food — everyone comes here because it’s cheap, but the portions are so small that the 2 euro price ends up being the same as any other restaurant. 1 croquette for $2 is the same as 3-4 croquettes for $6-8. Drinks are also an average price

Pretty sure all the great reviews about delicious food is coming from customers who are drunk by the time they eat. We arrived right when it opened, and did not get our dishes until around an hour later. I watched a table of 2 finish an entire pitcher of sangria before 5 tiny tapas arrived

To be completely fair, I think this place is meant to be a location to get obliterated drunk. If you are looking for that + tiny snacks, go for it. But I would prefer to get physically obliterated anywhere else on earth to avoid this...

FOOD POISONING This was my fist visit to Barcelona and I want to try their tapas cuz it was seems good on social media. I went there 8 July around 8-9 pm and ordered lots of tapas. Service was not good but it’s okay I don’t want to talk about it because I had bigger problems than service. After I left from there and arrived in the hotel around 11 pm and then everything was kicked. I throw up from 12 am to 12 pm NON STOP. I am very sure that it was the tapas cuz I haven’t had any meal except tapas. And then I was freaking tired beind of sick all night and missed my 3rd day of the trip. I haven’t able to go outside or going to hospital also I missed my flight and had to find hotel again to stay in. After that, I called the Cafe Pages and told them everything very detailed, they just said, if you are not in the hospital we can not do anything. Even though I have my travel insurance. Just...

Made a reservation for 7pm to try the 2 euro tapas and they told us they didn’t have an English menu for the tapas special or a drink menu. It’s nice that it’s away from the tourist areas but a drink menu would have been nice, luckily we had someone next to us who could tell us what everything was.

For tapas it was ok, for a drink and snacks I would recommend it. Don’t come here thinking you’ll get cheap authentic tapas, you’ll get an authentic experience with some light bites and the drinks are cheap. Glad we tried it though! The little burgers were really good, the potatoes with the cheese weren’t anything special and the calamari croquettes were tasty. The meatballs just tasted like they were frozen and heated up but def try the Brie
