Near Sagrada Família church, there is such a charming café named CAMELIA ART CAFÉ. The decoration is amazing, almost looking like your gramma´s house, with such beautiful porcelains cups, plates and containers. The café is owned by Argentinians, so you can expect awesome homemade alfajores, and great sweets. The menu has lots of salty and brunch options as well, and some seats are sofas, so comfy. We had an espresso doble from Honduras, roasted by TORNADO ROASTERS, a dutch guy that lives in Barcelona and has great specialty coffee roast profiles. Also ordered a very well made flat white with beaultiful latte art from the nice barista! You can take your laptop and work there, the place has plenty space to do so and later have a great walk and sightseeing in SAGRADA FAMILIA or in Sant Pau Hospital. They have filtered options, but on the day we went, they weren´t serving because the roast profile of the bean would not go well on filter. That shows knowledge and concern with customers, congrats CAMELIA!

We went there for breakfast, ordered a drink and food each. After twenty minutes we got the wrong drinks but they were looking tasty so that we took them though.
After nearly an hour of meals that were send to other guests (some of them arrived a lot later than we did) we asked about our food and were told, that they're so busy that they'd not started ours yet and that they'd need another 15 minutes. We accepted grudgingly but said that we would not wait any longer than that 15 minutes. The time passed without that our food was even started to be prepared (sitting next to the kitchen door, I could very well see what was going on and what not) we left.
When paying for the drinks we overheard the staff's conversation, that the food had been nearly ready and that they wanted to charge us for that. We demanded just to pay for the drinks, which they finally agreed and we left to have breakfast somewhere else (right across the street is a very nice little bakery with no waiting...
Read moreNot the first time I come here. The style /decor is very vintag-y/ art-y; vintage teacups and china from England (and not only), vintage chairs, tables, vitrines... Nevertheless there is a changing variety of cakes and tarts, even vegan options, from creamy to more dry ones. The presentation on the dish fits to the cake, from dry edible flowers to syrups, as far as I have seen. There is a variety of coffees and lattes, with not so usual options, like lavender or jasmine (apart from the classic ones), but also do not expect to find "usual" prices. And of course the quality is one of "home made with love and brain". You can also buy products for the preparation of coffee at home. I had the luck to go at a time when it was not crowdy at all so had a lovely chat with the personnel. All in all, I recommend it if you want to taste something new and transport yourself to another era, or if you are tired of the everyday same looking white cups for your coffee :-D Or just to enjoy...
