The hotel location was good, and the public areas were pleasant (although the bar/breakfast area was taken over by a large group being quite loud and having a picnic of supermarket food). The water bottle was a nice touch, as was the complimentary glass of wine. ||However, our visit was ruined by endless noise from the main street (Exterior Double). Partly from traffic throughout the night, but also from people leaving the nightclub opposite and hanging around partying on the street. The next morning we asked if we could move rooms, but were told it wasn't possible. The receptionist also suggested that the nightclub would be closed the following night and wasn't normally a problem, but a quick Google search showed that it's open 7 days a week, until 5 am every night. There was no offer of a solution. ||The room itself was smaller than expected, and the bathroom configuration was impractical, with the shower on one side of the hallway entrance from the door, and the toilet and sink on the other. The bed was very wobbly and moved back and forth every time one of us rolled over, which also disturbed our sleep. Lastly, for anyone bothered about watching TV, it was not a Smart TV, so no apps like Netflix or radio apps, and there was no access to the HDMI ports to plug in e.g. a Fire Stick or Chromecast. ||When hotels buy and renovate old buildings, I really wish they would incorporate soundproofing and invest in triple-glazed windows and insulation between rooms, both next door and above and below. If this had been done in the first place, then the noise would have been an understandable expectation for a city hotel, and not an unbearable disruption that caused two nights of barely any sleep, and subsequent bad moods and lack of energy - all for the price of over 200 EUR per night. ||Oh, and by the way, if you're staying, do check that your room door is firmly closed when you go out. We're used to hotel room doors clicking shut automatically so (perhaps stupidly) didn't check when we first went out. But ours didn't, and when we returned, we were concerned to see that anyone could have pushed it open and gone inside. Thankfully...
Read moreI loved my stay at Hotel Praktik Vinoteca! The location is outstanding—right in the heart of things, with so many great restaurants and key sites within easy walking distance. It made getting around the city a breeze.
The staff was warm, professional, and welcoming from the start. The ground-floor lobby was a relaxing spot to unwind, and while I didn’t take advantage of the complimentary wine tickets (not much of a drinker), it was a thoughtful touch. There’s also a cozy lounge and outdoor space tucked away in the back, and breakfast was available daily if you wanted it.
My room was on the smaller side, but totally functional and thoughtfully designed. It included a proper space to store clothes—which isn’t always a given in boutique hotels—and the high ceilings made it feel more spacious. Everything was spotless. The bathroom layout was a bit quirky (the shower opened right into the hallway), but it wasn’t a big deal and everything worked well.
As a solo traveler, the room was just right for me. It might feel a little tight for two, but honestly, you’re not in Barcelona to hang out in your hotel room. My room faced the interior courtyard, which meant no city view—but it was blissfully quiet. Afternoon sunlight streamed in, and I could open the window for fresh air—both lovely touches.
I have to give a special shoutout to the cleaning staff. Every day, like clockwork, they left the room spotless—it felt like walking into a freshly prepared space each time I returned. Also, the blackout curtain was one of the best I’ve ever encountered in a hotel, and the bed was firm and restful.
All in all, I couldn’t have asked for a better base for my first visit to Barcelona. I’d absolutely stay at the Praktik...
Read moreOur room was located on the ground floor, right next to the elevator and opposite the staff’s supply/storage room. While the hotel tried to mitigate noise from the hallway by installing a second interior door, staff repeatedly left it open during the day—likely for their own convenience—completely defeating its purpose.
At night, we closed the door ourselves to reduce the sound of guests moving to and from reception and breakfast, but every day it was opened again by staff. The result was constant hallway noise, especially early in the mornings.
The room itself was dark and claustrophobic. There was only a small window tucked in the back corner that opened onto a tiny 2x3 meter patio enclosed by walls several stories high—offering zero natural light.
To make matters worse, the walls were paper-thin. We could hear every word from the neighboring room, and the snoring from two different guests on two different nights kept us up as if they were in bed right next to us. Combined with the hallway noise and the ineffective noise barrier, we barely got any sleep during our stay.
Overall, the location may be convenient, but the room’s lack light, and quiet made this a very poor experience. I would not recommend staying here unless you’re guaranteed a different room away from the ground floor and better...
