We were out and about near Montjuic last weekend, looking for a vegan dining option without much expectations. Previous vegan places in a similar price range that I have visited in Barcelona didn´t surprise me so far. We chose Jonny Aldana on google because it was close to our location. After the first interactions, it became clear that the cooking and serving person is the owner - his signature is all over the place. We got recommendations, warmth and attention and finally delightful constellations like Baked banana with vegan cheese and red pesto, Grilled Yuca with a colombian sauce "aji" perfumed with coriander as well as Burrito with buckwheat, lentils, shitake, seitan, vegan cheese, spinards with pico gallo and veganaise. Everything was absolutely suprising, delightning and satisfying. I was close to tears because it´s a long time ago I felt so touched by a vegan food place, not only by the food itself but also by its soul. After dinner we had a giggle over the very few bad reviews on google. Jonny´s Aldana is not for impatient people under time pressure. This place takes its time. The output is heartwarming! Thank you so much for this wonderful experience, we will definitely...
Read moreI used to live in Barcelona 4 years ago and I’ve tried many vegan spots in town. The atmosphere is typical barrio vibe very relaxed and cozy spot with a few tables. The owner runs everything himself drinks, food, service. He’s a one man star. So, don’t expect speedy service, Expect personal service. The food was Incredible: yucca fries, piadina, seitan tacos and also the mushroom tacos. He uses a special vegan cheese called “huero” made specifically for Spanish cuisine. My non vegan friends all loved the food and that speaks a lot. I’m not sure if his name is Jonny but he was super helpful and I can say it’s hands down one of the best vegan...
Read moreJonny Aldana bar was on our list from the beginning of our exploring of Barcelona. We feel kinda romantic from the photos so we decided - together with my partner - to go on a date there and we were right from the start. It is small but cozy, one-man-running place so we were surprised and humbled. We ordered Bloody Mary and Caipirinha and we enjoy drinks while we were waiting for Quesadillas, Burrito and baked banana as our meals. It was one of the best mexican/south american fusion that we ever had and we will definitely come back for more! Totally worth to visit and support...
