Jugoria is a gem within Barcelona. We ordered all of the empanadas, the grilled chicken, the pork ribs and rice mixed and everything was absolutely DIVINE! The flavors were original, delicious and made you want more. The food presentation was excellent as well. We had the honor to be served by Sergio Ayala who heightened our experience with his kindness and courtesy. He made us feel at home while catering to our orders. We really appreciate him sharing the background story about this family business mixing Spanish and Bolivian cuisine. Did I forget to mention the Sagrada Spicy drink?!! That drink on its own deserves an award and a patent! A must drink! Last but not least, the chocolate cake desert was probably one of the best I've ever had in my life (and I am old and a self-proclaimed choco-alic). The tres leches was delicious as well. The food was so good, we shamelessly took some takeouts, that we actually finished the following day! There are not enough stars to rate this place, just go, you will not be dissapointed. Truly hats off to the Ayala family and staff. Jugoria is culinary GEM in the heart...
Read moreOrdered a menu del día that claimed to have: drink + empanada + main dish + desert o café for 13€. Let's start from saying that the only drinks available were beer or water (not coca cola or other types of juices). Since all the main dishes had fish or meat in them, I got offered a salad.. "A bigger salad to compensate" the guy said. The salad was just a bowl of green leaves that were very very bitter, three tomatoes, ⅓ of raw red pepper, some nuts and onions. It was also full of oil (not sure about the quality of the oil). I am not vegan, I just don't eat meat or fish so I guess something could have been added to the salad without trouble as if it needed to replace a main dish. As I asked for the desert I was told that the only one available was watermelon (so..fruit), so I asked for coffee. It was not possible to get a coffe with milk, just cortado o espresso. I basically paid 13€ for water, empanada, a basic salad and a coffe (not even good).
The empanada was really...
Read moreThis was one of the best dinners I’ve had! My husband and I split three empanadas (SALTEÑA DE POLLO, TUCU VEGANA CON QUINOA, PUCA DE QUESO), served with interesting salsas (Cacahuete, Escabeche, Chimichurri, Salsa brava, Jalapeño encurtido). The taste of the empanadas was nicely complemented by the salsas. The pastry was light, flaky and just the slightest bit sweet. The best texture and taste of any empanada I’ve eaten. We also split the NOGADA DE POLLO, which was chicken and rice in a peanut sauce. I was expecting the sauce to taste sweet, like it often is in the US, and was pleasantly surprised that it was not at all sweet, just savory. The desserts were homemade and delicious, the lemon pie in particular was a lovely balance between sweet and sour with a light, airy texture and Italian meringue that was nicely done. The owner was very helpful and friendly and we enjoyed talking with him. In a city of lots of fantastic restaurants this...
