Heard great things online, and it didn’t disappoint! As soon as I set foot through the (rather small!) door, into the very narrow bar, I was greeted warmly and was told they had the best burgers in Barca (by the chef and a customer!).
I’ve not eaten enough Barca burgers to know if they’re the best. But they’re very good. I had the La Gringa (two 100g smashed patties, perfectly cooked bacon, onions and BBQ sauce) which came with delicious skin-on fries. And while I can’t say for certain if it’s Barca’s best, I can say it’s probably Barca’s hottest! It came out virtually sizzling; allaying any fears that Brits like me have about cooking standards abroad.
The burger was juicy, flavourful and well cooked. As they tend to smash all their patties, you won’t get the hefty, chunky burgers you see in more fancy places. Instead you get a skinnier taste explosion which, frankly, I prefer anyway.
To be totally honest, there could have been more fries on the side. If you’re like me and like to see as little plate (or slate, in this case) as possible, then consider ordering a side. They have croquettes which I’ve heard great things about; as well as other fries and more. Today, what I was served was actually the perfect amount.
The recommended beer was Barca’s own Estrella Galicia - a fresh, crisp, clean lager that was perfect for such a hot day in the city. It’s easy to drink, meaning it’ll be a nice choice for even occasional beer drinkers.
Here’s the kicker: I paid €13.25 for the entire order. Bargain!
The service was also exceptional. The chef spoke great English while the barman, with only Spanish, muddled through with me very well. Both were very patient with yet another tourist! Bonus points for two standout moments: The chef proactively gave me the WiFi details as soon as he saw me take my phone out. Although it was displayed, this was a really nice touch. The chef also specifically offered me mayonnaise, despite my table having mustard and ketchup already available. It’s often an unpopular opinion, but you can’t beat mayo on fries!
The vibe is cool too. Hip hop and RnB playing (with the chef singing along very audibly!). I heard everything from the Fujis to Ice Cube to Fresh Prince and Jazzy Jeff.
Honestly, this was such a great find. Look at the other reviews - they’re all consistent. If you value great service as much as great food, give it a go. And don’t let your first impression deter you - it does not look like a great burger bar...
Read moreMyself, daughter and two friends entered this unassuming burger restaurant and within a few minutes I wished that I’d found the restaurant on my first night in Barcelona.( I would have eaten there every night!!! On speaking to the owners I feel that although he didn’t speak much English and I not much Spanish the love of rock music gave us the connection. The interaction with the chef and I assume co owner was also brilliant…..he was lovely and extreamly friendly and from talking to them all I can see why they are I. The hospitality trade! My only complaint was the food tasted sooooooo good I could have eaten many many burgers in the one sitting! 😋😋😋😋. Everyone you need to experience their food……if you are in Barcelona go there…….its a must!! Till next...
Read moreWent there on a working day in the morning and the food was very disappointing. The burger I ordered was cold - bread, cheese were cold as from the fridge and bacon was cold and very dry, like it was made way before. The meat was warm but felt like it was made before and warmed up now. Usually in fresh burgers meat is very hot and the rest of the ingredients are warm. I did a few bites and left it on the plate. The potatoes were hot...
