L'Antiquari Gastronòmic — Restaurant in Barcelona

What an incredible and unique find. This was a dining highlight for our trip to Spain! A Michelin star restaurant in the making at a fraction of the price for beautifully presented and prepared tastings. Make reservations as soon as you can since we had reservations at 7:45 pm (first and only seating), and we enjoyed our the multiple course tasting menu until nearly 10 pm.

We arrived early around 7 pm, and the bartender invited to sit inside or outside in the courtyard to enjoy a drink until the chef arrived. It was lovely sitting in the square outside the church sipping our sangria. The restaurant was a bit hard to find, so I included pictures of outside of the restaurant. It is in the courtyard or plaza (Pl del Rei, outside Placa del Rei museum).

The preparation area is the right of the bar, so you might want a table with a view. The restaurant provided a wonderfully intimate atmosphere in a several hundred year old building. Bathrooms were up stairs and given the historic nature of the building, I did not see an elevator.

Each of the beautiful tastings came with an explanation. Service was excellent, warm, and friendly in spite of the small staff who did so much.

Items ranged from pig, horse, foie gras, shrimp, beef, duck and several dessert courses with a lovely acorn liquor which tasted like hazelnut and vanilla to me with a slightly sweet flavor. My favorite courses were: the appetizer with three different parts; the beef marinated for 30 days with a ginger, sweet potato, onion sauce, the duck with black truffles; shrimp dumpling with prawn head in a Romesco sauce and salmon tartar; the celeric and lime ice cream with apple and lime compressed cubes and mint white chocolate which was light and refreshing; the brownie and ice cream; and the...

To top off this incredible experience, I finished with sweet bites that left me feeling satisfied and fulfilled. These delightful desserts were the perfect conclusion to an unforgettable meal.
