My boyfriend and I found this place when we first moved to the Sagrada Familia neighborhood last year. At that time, the place wasn't as busy as it's progressively gotten but even then their service was spotty. We excused the service in favor of the food, which is usually pretty good. Also, they're one of the few places that offer a menu on the weekend so that's usually a plus.
Today, however, about 7 months after my first visit to this place, was my ABSOLUTE LAST TIME GOING TO LA BRASA ROJA. Their TERRIBLE service has been excused for the last time!!!
As I said, my boyfriend and I live in the area so we go to this place at least two or three times a month. Every single time we've gone, we've had SOME issue, be it extremely slow service, messing up our order, adding items we didn't order to our bill or being completely out of basically everything on the menu. Again, we've normally just brushed it off and chalked it up to them being slightly overwhelmed with how busy they've become. They do not deserve to be as busy as they've become. They are horribly rude. Especially the waitress behind the bar with the glasses and the tall, thin one. We walked in today and neither of them even so much as acknowledged us with a 'hello' or a 'welcome back'. It was about 4:40 when we walked and we asked if we could take the menu of the day. They said no because the menu option is over at 5. Is it me or is 5 o'clock 20 minutes after 4:40??!! And they said no as if they could care less if we came there or not- even though we do so regularly.
I was trying to give this place chance after chance. I mean did I mention the time before this, we went to this place with a friend who ordered the cordero (lamb chops) off the menu and she got really sick with diarrhea and vomiting? I figured it was an isolated incident and that perhaps she got sick from something else. But perhaps their terrible service is starting to bleed into their food quality as well? Who knows, but what I know for sure is that I will no longer be frequenting or recommending this horribly run place ever again. During this economic crisis in Barcelona, there are far many other places deserving of the business this place so clearly takes for granted.

What an absolute joy to discover La Brasa Roja while visiting Barcelona with my family (my American husband and our kids). We’ve been living in Asia for over a decade, and finding truly authentic Peruvian food has been nearly impossible — until now.
I ordered the ceviche mixto carretillero and pollo a la brasa, and from the very first bite, I was transported straight back to my childhood in Peru. The ceviche was perfectly balanced — fresh, tangy, and just the right amount of spice, exactly like what you’d get from a carretilla on the streets of Lima. The pollo a la brasa had that unmistakable smoky flavor and juicy tenderness that’s so hard to find outside Peru.
It wasn’t just a meal — it was a wave of nostalgia and comfort. My husband and kids loved it too, my daughter ordered the Lech de Tigre (a favorite of hers)
If you’re Peruvian, or simply curious about real Peruvian cuisine, La Brasa Roja is a must-visit in Barcelona. Thank you for reminding me of home ❤️...
Read moreWe went here because of the many reviews but sadly the positive reviews were not what we experienced. The food was good but not wow. service was ok but I think if we spoke Spanish or castellano it would’ve helped. But most importantly, back to the food. I had the chicken dish and my boyfriend had the steak. I’m 6 months pregnant so I’m not able to eat too much but my boyfriend finished his meal. Later in the day, my boyfriend got more and more sick and ended up with food poisoning and throwing up his entire meal. It was the food here since it was the only meal we had that day. Imagine if he didn’t throw up and kept the food down? He would’ve been sick the...
