🌟 Oakanda: Poble-sec’s Hidden Gem That Some Just Don’t Get 🌟
If you’re wandering down from the Miró Museum, legs a little tired, head full of color and cosmic squiggles, and stomach starting to grumble—Oakanda is exactly where you want to land. The walk down from Montjuïc is beautiful: winding stairs, tiled walls, kids playing fútbol in forgotten plazas… and then suddenly, this quiet corner of Poble-sec appears like a reward for the culturally adventurous.
And what a reward.

🍟 The Chips
Not just fries. These are crisp, golden, and outrageously addictive—the kind of chips that make you consider cancelling the rest of your afternoon just to order a second bowl.
🍋 The Lemonade
Handmade. Bright. More refreshing than the shade of a fig tree in August. You taste the real lemons, and you feel the care.
🧉 The Kombucha
Locally brewed, fresh on tap, and actually alive (you can taste the fizz and funk the way kombucha’s supposed to be). Pairs perfectly with the laid-back vibe.
🍦 The Ice Cream
Let’s not be dramatic, but—this might be the best damn scoop in Barcelona. Creamy, deep flavor, with zero artificial weirdness.

🌱 The Vibe
Oakanda feels like someone’s dream café crossed with a quiet urban garden. There’s a calm here. No rush. No pressure. Just real food, good people, and the scent of something baking that isn’t for you, but makes you happy anyway.

🧐 Now, About Those Google Reviews…
Let’s just say—Oakanda isn’t for everyone. And that’s okay. • “No tapas?” someone gasped. Correct. No soggy patatas bravas here. Just perfectly crisp sweet potato fries with herby aioli that could end diplomatic wars. • “Too healthy”? What you meant to say was: “My taste buds were ambushed by vegetables that actually taste good.” • “Weird drinks”? If your palate is still adjusting to things that aren’t Coca-Cola, we get it. But trust the kombucha. It’s better than therapy.

🏁 Final Verdict
Walk from Miró. Eat the chips. Drink the weird. Stay for the ice cream. Leave a better version of yourself.
And if you don’t get it? No worries. The rest of us will be back...

Almost everything you see (the tables, chairs, decorations , some of the serving dishes) are handmade by the owner. I would give them 10 starts if that was an option. Everyone we have brought here have loved the place. The place itself is not overly large so it can get busy depending the time of the day. Currently they are open from Thursday to Sunday (winter season) but with the warm weather coming back, you can expect them to soon be open also during Wednesdays and Tuesdays.
If you manage to visit Okanda - try the nachos (photo added). They are a vegetarian version but in both mine and my husband’s opinion - they are some of the best nachos we’ve ever had! And we love nachos and will try them almost everywhere we go. That tiny jar is a desert which is made out of corn. I’ve never had anything like it before. It was delicious like...

Oh my did we stumble upon a gem. We ordered the loaded nachos with carne & the quesadilla. I’ve had plenty of Mexican food and Spanish style food in my life. This place literally shook me up, it was so good. We were both so blow away by the food. This is a small sidewalk shop with maybe 4-5 tables outside. Had some string lights (which caught our attention) order at the counter and few minutes later your food comes out.
If you are staying at the Intercontinental or near this area, do yourself a favor and try this food,...
