La Malandrina — Restaurant in Barcelona

La Malandrina has two small restaurants and a huge queue in front. No boludeces here: you can choose between the best beef meat cuts and sure you will pay way less than you expect. Usually we take the bife or the asado de tira, enjoying it with some chimichurri on the top, some creamy potatoes and a good red wine. Mind one suggestions: the service here is pretty fast as they are masters in grilling the meat, so do not waste your appetite by eating bread while waiting. You will really need some good space, and you will be delighted to fill your body with the taste of pampa.

The atmosphere is frantic and easy, so this is not definitely a place for a first romantic date, unless you are keen to warn your sweetheart that at the end of your dinner your eyes will be shaped like South America and you will be singing some tangos. But the interaction with waiters and the deep smell of the asado over the fire will fill your soul with such an happiness that – believe me – the Malandrina will be the place to go...

The food is great, the portions are large and the staff is super friendly. From the outside the place looks small but when you walk in there is a larger area with more seats, it can get busy but the waiting time (if any) is totally worth it. The appetizers are delicious, we had the empanadas and although the serving was rather large, we were close to order more. The parrillas can be easily shared by two people. Definitely try the entraña (flank steak) and don’t forget the creamy potatoes. Their wine selection is quite decent with a few reasonable choices, we had a couple of glasses of Estrella (beer) which was served cold and tasted delicious. We wished we found the place sooner during our trip. Not only the service was awesome (Gaspar the owner could place a bottle of Panizo, a digestive liquor, for you to have one on him) but the prices were very good considering we paid twice as much in nearby places and didn’t eat...

La MALANDRINA!!!! Un clasico en la barceloneta que conozco desde sus inicios porque vivi en barceloneta durante 9 años y llevo ya 22 años viviendo aqui… conozco su historia, sus origenes, su evolucion y hasta su expansion en el momento…. Me alegro que a dia de hoy por lo menos sigan manteniendo uno y que sea en mi ex barrio!!! Yo a la malandrina siempre la he descrito con las 3 B,B,B…. BUENO, BONITO y BARATO!!! Si es verdad que como bien he dicho yo tuve la oportunidad de comer alli desde sus inicios y seria injusto comparar sus precios de aquellos tiempos con los actuales … todo sube….. Tanyo fue su auge en su momento que enfrente le abrieron su competencia, pero asi es el mercado y la competencia nunca es mala, al contrario…. Te exige k mantengas la calidad y el buen servicio… Se agradece a dia de hoy que sigan manteniendo la cestita de pan del principio que es digamos de parte de la casa, luego la segunda es normal k la cobren… viene aconpañada de dos salsas CHIMICHURRI y SALSA CRIOLLITA , en mi opinion bastantes aceitosas y no se apreciaba mucho las especias y n el caso del chimichurri y la picadita de n el caso de la criolla, si las comparo con anteriores ocasiones eran mas balanceadas, pero bueno es una pequeña critica… En esta ocasión me di cuenta que la parrilada digamos que son individuales… cada una viene en su respectivo plato aunque he de decir que en una parrillada 2.0 como la k pedimos nosotros tranquilamente podrian compartirla entre 2, aunque prefiero que venga la partillads en medio y de ahi se vaya compartiendo, pero es cuestion de preferencias, de igual manera yo en mi caso tuve que pedir que me pongan un poco en tupper xk ya no me la avanzaba… por eso recomiendo no liarse mucho con el pan y ademas viene acompañada de varias opciones y en este caso las famosas patatas a la crema k la verdad estan bastantes buenas es verdad k no ayudan a k el plato sea ligero jajajaja pero bueno tienes una opcion con ensaladita tambien aunque kizas algun latino le haga en falta una opcion de frijolitos k no seria mala idea tener jajjajaja!!!! La calidad de la carne ya es opinion de cada uno juzgarla como dije creo que calidad precio es bastante correcto asi que no se puede juzgar mucho tampoco, aunque los puntos de la carne aunque el camarero te pregunte depende de la faena k tenga el parrillero algun error podria cometer…. En general para mi la malandrina es un clasico que calidad y precio se ajustan bastante y k entre amigos se ajusta bastante bien para poder compartir…. En su momento intentaron expandirse y no tuvieron el mismo exito k el de la barceloneta , pero bueno a veces las expansiones no siempre salen bien…. De igual manera el de la barceloneta sigue existiendo y me alegro por ello… les invito a probarlo y que juzgen...
