I walked by this place every day without giving it as much as a second glance, because it is on busy Balmes and I didn't think it would be a calm place to enjoy breakfast. Never have I been so happy to be wrong. It's not one of those brooklyn or copenhagen looking spaces and instead of hordes of hungover hipsters, the clientèle here is more varied. You will just as likely find young families from the neighborhood and retired old ladies meeting as couples out on a date or friends catching up over some mimosas. The owners are lovely and ready to make accomodations for allergies when they can (they mostly work with a 15 euros set menu model).
The reason I am writing this review is because Bendito Brunch serves up the best eggs Benedict I have had in a while. Light and flavorful the benedict (bernaise? hollandaise? I never know) sauce is evidently home made and freshly whisked on the premises daily and not poured out of an industrial vat of yellow sauce (like too many places in BCN are shamelessly serving lately). I liked them so much, I haven't tried any of the other options yet!
Their pancakes are fluffy and moist served stacked with fresh fruit, nuts and maple syrup (or nutella I think). Their maple syrup is also pretty good, which is a rarity in BCN.
Until now, most of the best brunch spots in the city were either in poble nou, psg st joan or example... I am happy to have found that a spot that I can rely on to lure my friends up to Sant Gervasi for our brunch dates, instead of the...

We stopped by Layali Pastry for brunch, and let me just say—the pancakes stole the show. They were soft, spongy, and practically melted in my mouth. The sweet sauce? Absolute perfection. If you have a sweet tooth, this place is a must-try.
We also tried the bagel with salmon, which was fresh, light, and delicious—a great savory option to balance out the sweetness. As for the turkey plate, it was good, but it did not wow me as much as the rest. That said, the fresh salad on the side added a nice, crunchy touch, so it is still worth trying if you prefer something simple and healthy.
The vibe inside is cozy and bright, perfect for a lazy brunch or coffee date. Whether you are here for sweets or something savory, you will leave full and happy.

Read moreSince the moment we ordered it took more than an hour to serve the pancakes (part of their brunch package). Our family expected to eat at the same time. They only offer brunch on Sunday’s but you would think they have the 9 or so dishes ready for the amount of tables they have, nope. The food was good but the service timing awful. Some dishes came out first then later at different times for everyone and I called before so they could have said they have no room or ability to serve more people, sure everyone does their best effort but this doesn’t seems t be the case. No apologies or anything at least. Apparently they can get away with bad service with the no repercussions, good for them, not so much for unsuspecting first...
