I recently dined at this restaurant with my partner. While the food, especially the lasagna, was absolutely delicious, the service was shockingly poor.
The issues started early: our main course was served before we had even finished our starters, making the meal feel rushed and uncoordinated. One staff member, who seemed to be the manager, stood out for all the wrong reasons. As we were browsing the dessert menu, she approached our table twice within minutes, and when we didn’t decide quickly enough, she rolled her eyes as she walked away.
It got worse. Before we were even done with dessert, the bill was abruptly placed on the table without us asking for it. Moments later, the bartender informed us that we needed to leave, as the restaurant was closing. We still had wine to finish and calmly expressed our disappointment with how we had been treated. Instead of an apology, he dismissed our concerns, citing the owner’s refusal to pay overtime as the reason for their hurried behavior.
Despite everything, we left a tip out of courtesy—but this went completely unacknowledged. Not a single thank you, not even a smile. As we walked out, nobody wished us a good evening, further solidifying the lack of basic hospitality.
While the ambiance of the restaurant was cozy and the food was excellent, the experience was completely overshadowed by the staff’s rude and impatient attitude. If you’re looking for a place to enjoy a relaxing evening with friendly service, this is definitely not the...
Read moreI am always very wary of eating so close to a main tourist attraction, but the ratings were so good and so many reviews I took a chance. The food was lack luster and sadly it was for my anniversary dinner. Let me start with the positives: the staff was lovely, attentive and clearly very hard working. The venue itself is this cosy space with a lot of character. As it’s small a reservation is necessary. Now the food…the house white wine (3 euro) was floral and enjoyable. My husband said the house red tasted like vinegar. Our appetizer of burrata and fried artichoke was delicious! Creamy/fresh burrata and perfectly fried artichoke that left you with a great paring. The classic lasagna was dry, overcooked, the marinara had no flavor kind of like canned tomatoes before you make a sauce of them. The ziti (I believe what actually came was penne, but not a big deal) with red onion meat sauce and I think mushrooms (don’t recall seeing those in the menu description, but could have missed it) was too oily, very light on the sauce and overall the flavoring was not enjoyable. Neither of us finished the main dishes. We shared the cannoli Siciliana for dessert which delicious; the ricotta filling was perfectly whipped. The photos of the food are nice, but for me at the price of 65 euro I left hungry and disappointed since I have had remarkably good Italian food in Barcelona for...
Read moreWe’ve been often coming to this restaurant but yesterday we found the service extremely unpleasant and unprofessional and we won’t be coming back. The waiter was very unpleasant since the beginning, he was just placing the dishes on our table without saying anything and by 23:10 he started telling us the restaurant would close in a bad manner. At 23:20 he brought us the bill without having asked for it and he brought the POS machine so that we pay, even if we hadn’t asked for it and we were still enjoying our aperitivos which we had just ordered. At 23:25 he came back to tell us ‘now we close’. He turned off the music and pushed all the remaining customers to leave. Closing a restaurant in the heart of Barcelona at 23:30 on a Saturday night and with this manner was completely unacceptable to me. Update on 24/11 as the restaurant responded, no surprise, saying that it closes at 23:30. In that case, don’t suggest a reservation at 22:00 as it doesn’t leave enough time to the people to eat and don’t get an order for aperitivos at 23:20! My complaint was around your behavior. There are many ways of communicating a restaurant closing, but definitely not by bringing the POS on the table with such manners. Reducing my review to 1 as your response just shows how...
