As a big fan of Lluritu 1 and 2, I was really looking forward to trying the newest branch. The vibe is similar, but the menu is quite different—many items aren’t listed and are only available if you ask, which is confusing.
Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing from the start. When we asked the waiter for a recommendation, he immediately suggested the shrimp for 30 euros. Trusting the great experiences we’ve had at the other locations, we went for it—only to find out it was one single shrimp. We weren’t told what made it special or why it was so expensive, and when we asked, the waiter became defensive rather than informative. He eventually came back from the manager and showed us a Google search to justify the price, but that didn’t explain why it was worth it. If you’re charging 30 euros for a single shrimp, there should be some context—what makes it unique, how it was prepared, what to look for in its flavor. Instead, we were met with side-eyes and zero explanation. In the end, it just tasted like a normal shrimp, and the whole exchange left a bad impression.
After paying our €120 bill without hesitation, I looked at the receipt out of curiosity—to see what exactly we had been charged for—and the same waiter suddenly stormed over to ask, “What’s the problem?” There was no problem. I was simply checking the bill. It felt unnecessarily tense and awkward.
To top it off, we wanted to finish our wine, but another server came by to tell us we had five minutes to leave the table—even though half the upstairs was half empty. I asked if we could just finish the bottle, and we were advised to take it downstairs.
I still love Lluritu, and the original branches will remain some of my favorites—but I won’t be returning...
Read moreWe had high hopes for Lluritu 3 but, unfortunately, our experience left much to be desired. Despite having a reservation, our table had been given away to someone else. After a long wait in the lobby, the staff set up a table upstairs, which wasn’t the best start to the evening.
Service was extremely slow, with long gaps of around 30 minutes between each plate. No one checked in on us throughout the meal, leaving us to wonder if we’d been forgotten. To make matters worse, there were several mishaps: one server shattered a glass on the table, making shards fly into my lap when he was about to pour some cava. Another spilled olive oil all over the place while clearing plates. These incidents didn’t exactly instill confidence in the service.
The food itself was disappointing. Two of the dishes were bland and under-seasoned, I wonder if they had salted them at all. A simple tomato salad looked amazing but was just flavorless roma tomatoes, olive oil, and onions (with zero salt) and cost 6 euros, which felt silly for something so basic. The scallops arrived lukewarm and, also lacked any flavor. The only dish we truly enjoyed was the red shrimp with potatoes and egg, but by then, the slow pacing and lackluster quality of the other dishes had soured the experience.
Our reservation was at 9:15 PM, and after waiting so long for just three plates and a bottle of cava, we left just before 11 PM feeling both hungry and frustrated. Given the high prices and subpar food and service, we decided not to wait even longer for more disappointment.
With so many great restaurants in Barcelona, I can’t recommend Lluritu 3. There are far better options for a memorable...
Read moreAfter a fulfilling jaunt to La Roca Village, outlet retailers ransacked with gleeful abandon, the vacant expanses of one’s belly rumbled ominously with the expectant clangs of hunger. Rapturous online reports of Lluritu and its two sequels still fresh in mind, we arrived ravening at the third in the trilogy’s doors - expectations sky high.
Almost charmed from our seats by the enthusiastic and endearing staff, we conspired with them to organise a steady stream of small dishes (sent out from the kitchen with remarkable speed) before the fish of the day delivered the meal’s crescendo.
This last was probably an over-order, as it was a lot of fish - beautifully grilled as it was. In retrospect, continuing the torrent of small plates in lieu of a grilled fish - Russian salad, scallops, oysters that had one practically levitating above the seat and more of which were swiftly requested - might have made for a more suitable meal for two. However, that’s on us rather than the restaurant, as what we were given was of...
