I was really amazed with the outstanding customer service here. In all honesty my food was absolutely delish, I came here with my girlfriend because there mother restaurant Viana was closed for the holidays and after we called we were notified that the same owner owns, Louro. We both ordered a cocktail, I got the blackberry mojito and my girlfriend got the grapefruit margarita. Both of which were outstanding. We ordered the Zamburinas, Parmentier and Iberian jowl as a starter, it came as a portion of 5, which seemed odd to me to begin with because why would a restaurant put "to share" and then give you an odd amount. Out of curiosity I checked there Google reviews and saw that most of everyone else received a portion of 6 based on the pictures they posted. That's where the dissatisfaction began. For the main dish I ordered the Beef Cheek, Creamy and roasted escalivada, but upon further inspection of the reviews here on Google, I realized my portion was shortened, once again. Most of the people posting pictures of the beef cheeks show a pretty generous beef cheek portion with three generous dallops of Creamy and roasted escalivada topped with some peppers. On the contrary my dish arrived with a small portion of beef cheeks and only one dallop of Creamy and roasted escalivada and no peppers at all. Don't get me wrong, it was delicious. My girlfriend ordered the Caldeirada of Monkfish, shrimp and clams. She was, at first, satisfied with her choice. I even had a bite of the Monkfish just because I was interested in the flavors they presented. But that same night, my girlfriend got a very upset stomach, she threw up for a considerable amount of time, and we suspected food poisoning. All in all, I was very pleased with there attentive service, but I believe there was a bit of age discrimination, because we both appear to look young therefore they figured, "hey let's cut back on these youngins." The flavors are outstanding, the cocktails were amazing and the service surpassed most. I just don't appreciate the...

Located on a side street just off the busy Las Ramblas stretch, ‘Louro’ specializes in rustic, traditional Galician fare and is supposed to be extremely popular amongst the locals. However, words must have gotten out, because on the night of our visit. Within the quadrant of the dining room we were seated in. Out of the 5 occupied tables, only 1 spoke Spanish! The remaining 4 were overseas visitors, including one from British Columbia! Small world!!

Still relatively full from our luncheon seafood binge-eating, we decided to go easy with our a la carte dinner order. The food, prepared by staff originally from Galicia, was indeed rustic, homey, hearty and flavourful. Standouts include the Galician Stew Croquettes ( Man! So many winning croquettes! I am starting to lose count!....and we’ve only been in Spain for 5 days!! ) and the ‘packed full of crustacean umami flavor’ Lobster Paella. The crunchy and flavorful rice crust, so addictively good! However, for me, the favorite of the evening were those finger foods. The pickled Olives and the crunchy and juicy Padron Peppers! The former, perfectly balanced!...not too salty, not too tangy. The latter, an occasional spicy hot one amongst the mix. The suspense made them a delight and fun to munch on!

Service by the English speaking staff was friendly and attentive. They even have time to smile and make jokes under the pressure of a...

The restaurant itself is lovely, with a nice atmosphere and promising menu, but unfortunately our experience was let down by the service.

We ordered two starters, but the order was mixed up, and the octopus only arrived after 45 minutes. Mistakes can happen, especially during busy times, but a simple apology or update would have made all the difference. When it finally arrived, the octopus was overly chewy, which made me think it hadn’t been cooked properly due to the mix-up.

The mains took around 90 minutes to arrive, and again, no one came to explain the delay until the very last minute, when the waiter told us it would be “ready in two minutes.” It was clear the order had been mishandled, and that’s okay., we would have understood if someone had just acknowledged it. We sat down look around for a long time to understand what is going on while everyone around us having their meal.

We came to this restaurant with high expectations and would have appreciated honesty and communication, but instead we left after two hours feeling disappointed, having paid for a pricey meal that didn’t live up to its potential because of the...

This was a spur of the moment decision and the food was just amazing. I had the octopus and it was the best I ever had in my entire life, and I am not exaggerating. It was sumptuous, tender and melting in the mouth, liberating a ton of subtle flavors just bringing you pure extasy. Then I had the Turbot (rodaballo). I am normally a great cook but I had to revise my judgement and I promised myself to learn how to better cook fish. It was just perfect. The capers sauce brings a nice acidic touch to the slight bitterness of the spinach. The fish is sumptuous, perfectly cook where you know that 3 seconds more would be too much. I couldn't wait to write this review to tell you how enthusiastic I was. Now let me try the desert, the Ferrero fondant. I'm already full so this is pure gluttony at this point. But I'll be back, and will try each and every item on the menu. Service was outstanding. When you are looking for the location, it is actually upstairs and you need to go at the end of a corridor, with a hostel going up on the left. Take the long stairs on the right and you'll get in Louro. You'll thank me later.

I am disappointed with the quality of food at Louro, which really surprised me as it had lots of reviews with nothing but good things to say. I had the pork ribs, which were very tender but had no flavour and a flavour less peanut sauce on top? Very small side came with it. I was hoping to get a lovely dinner but was very disappointed. I really enjoyed the blackberry mojito which others mentioned in their reviews and a really nice dessert. I also heard the couple next to me complain that their lobster paella wasn't great and the lobster itself had a very small amount of meat, which the waitress was very courteous and offered dessert which was declined. Just to top it off, this place is difficult to find and I've posted some pictures to help others out of what it looks like as it's not a shop front on the ground level, but a level or two up after walking into a plaza/lobby. Wouldn't recommend or come back unfortunately, unless it's for dessert and a mojito.
