DO NOT COME HERE.I REPEAT. DO NOT COME HERE
I ordered the 15.95 special which included a starter, main, and dessert. Little did I know, I was not going to be eating half of the food served.
Starting with context, we were a party of 10. I understand the stress that may have been caused due to being such a big party. Waiter came around and took all of our orders. Since we were traveling international, we had to repeat our orders a couple times. No worries, totally understand it.
Due to wanting the $15.95 special, we had to order before 4:00. It was 3:45. We took our time but were constantly pressured to send in our order. Someone at out table panicked and ordered something they didn't like.
I got the miso soup to start with. It was good, except for the fact I drank a couple sips of water to rinse out the heavy amount of salt I was consuming. Being as hungry as I was, I forced every gulp down with salt and water continously being sent.
For the main, I had the hake fish with a side of mashed potatoes. NO complaints here. Well seasoned and mash potatoes were pretty good
As for the dessert, I have more complaints than I could count. The "strawberry milkshake" tasted more like my cup of water than my cup of water tasted like cup of water. It was heavily watered down and i would rather have eaten some raccoon dung.
After dinner, I used the bathroom to relieve myself from this experience. I waited a little over 10 minutes for the bathroom. And who came out? A woman. No shame in her work.
Totally understand the pressure from our party, but the horrible consistently from the dessert and started brought this place down. I only gave it two stars from the fish. If I chose not too, I'd rather put it in the negatives
As for the images, I put a picture of the dessert. One shows what the milkshake looks like, and the other shows an accurate depiction of what was actually inside.
TLDR save yourself some time eating and in the bathroom and...
Read moreTOURIST TRAP. I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at Les Quinze Nits was so disappointing that I feel it’s important to share.
From the very start, the service was unwelcoming. The waiters were curt, dismissive, and came across as if they were doing us a favor by even acknowledging our presence. Any question we asked about the menu was brushed off with impatience, and their attitude made the whole atmosphere uncomfortable instead of enjoyable. Dining out should feel hospitable, but here it felt more like an inconvenience to the staff.
The food was, unfortunately, no better. I ordered the paella, which is supposed to be one of the highlights of Catalonian cuisine. What I was served was extremely underwhelming: the rice was undercooked and hard, the texture unpleasant, and the flavor overwhelmingly fishy in a way that suggested it wasn’t fresh. Instead of the rich, balanced taste you expect from a good paella, this dish was greasy, poorly seasoned, and simply gross. I struggled to eat it and left most of it behind, which says a lot because I usually enjoy trying local specialties.
To make matters worse, when I politely mentioned that the food didn’t seem properly cooked, the waiter rolled his eyes and walked away without offering a replacement or even an apology. That kind of rude dismissal is the exact opposite of what you expect at a restaurant that boasts such a central location and high volume of visitors.
Overall, the combination of bad service, rude staff, and food that was not only poorly prepared but nearly inedible made this one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had while traveling. There are countless authentic, welcoming restaurants in Barcelona that value their guests and take pride in their food, sadly, Les Quinze Nits is not one of them. I would not recommend wasting your time...
Read moreA Royal Square Surprise: Good Food, Busy Atmosphere Nestled right in the heart of the bustling Royal Square, this restaurant offers a surprisingly reasonable menu given its prime location. It's clear it's a popular spot, as it was packed when we visited, a testament to its appeal. We started with the classic "pan con tomate" – tomato-brushed bread – a simple yet satisfying accompaniment to our sangria. A note for those wanting to soak up the atmosphere from the terrace: be prepared for a 10% surcharge, clearly stated on the menu. Unfortunately, we were also bothered by a few persistent beggars, which the staff didn't seem to actively address. For our mains, we were pleasantly surprised by the quality. My tender duck, served on a bed of creamy mash, was cooked to perfection. My partner, disappointed that the paella was only available for two (and I wasn't in a seafood mood), opted for the steak. He wasn't disappointed. Cooked exactly as requested, it arrived beautifully presented with chips and rosemary. Both dishes were excellent, a welcome surprise in such a tourist-heavy area. The house red, reasonably priced, paired well with our meals. Our eyes proved bigger than our stomachs when we decided to indulge in dessert. Yes one each.We finished with "Churros and warm chocolate," a fun and satisfying end to the meal. While the food was undeniably good, the service felt a tad rushed and impersonal. It seemed the staff were keen to turn tables quickly, which, while understandable given the restaurant's popularity, detracted slightly from the overall experience. Despite the minor drawbacks, we would definitely return. The combination of good food, a prime location, and reasonable prices makes it a worthwhile choice. Just be prepared for a busy atmosphere and the potential for interruptions on...
